A big, traditional wedding just didn’t seem to suit our style and when it came down to planning the event, we wanted to keep it simple (& stress free). Somehow we stumbled upon the idea of surprising our immediate families with an intimate dinner celebration and it just felt right. We arranged for Paul’s parents and siblings to be in town for “Mother’s Day dinner” and the planning began! We would all meet before dinner in the lobby of the Adelphi where each person was given an invitation announcing that the wedding was happening that night. Our families then proceeded upstairs to the library where they were directed to the balcony for the ceremony to begin. It was our honor to have Paul’s sister, Prudence, officiate our ceremony. The most genuine and intimate ceremony was magical, and the opportunity to write our own vows to one another was unforgettable. Following the ceremony, we enjoyed a few cocktails and dinner, and cigars on the balcony.
Although many of our loved ones did not attend this special day, they were present in our hearts. The wedding that we always dreamed of was small and intimate. It was a difficult decision for us to make but ultimately, we knew our marriage was about our love for each other and that our family and friends would understand our choices. Thank you for always supporting us in our journey.
