It's our home, but for many it's a destination.

Traveling to Homer, with or without children, in the summer and finding lodging is a logistical undertaking and a financial burden. It’s been difficult to figure out how best to approach this event as it relates to family and friends from out of state. We’ve decided to cheerfully invite you all and your children but would like to offer some disclaimers.

How do we say we’d love to have you but feel free not to come? It’s tricky!! Please feel free to bow out. It won’t hurt our feelings! A whirlwind trip to Homer is a lot of time and money. We get it. We love you all and really enjoy the time we get to spend together. If it doesn’t happen this summer, there will be lots of opportunities for great visits in the future.

As far as lodging advice AirBnB seems to be a good option. You may want to consider renting a larger place and sharing it with several families. There are some local hotels as well, the prices and availability will all be at a premium that time of year.

As far as transportation goes, after flying into Anchorage you can rent a car and take the 4.5 hour scenic drive to Homer. Or, you can take a regional flight to Kenai (contact us for a reduced rate), rent a car and drive 90 minutes to Homer from there. The most expensive option is to fly directly to Homer from Anchorage.
