It’s a short story, but our favourite one.

As many people do these days, we met online, enjoyed the conversation and decided to meet.

Dave thought Jess wouldn’t realise there are home hardware stores in small towns, and decided to endure the 3.5 hour (one-way) drive to Toowoomba, under the guise of ‘needing to go to Bunnings’….. He showed up in a flannelette and luckily for him, Jess saw past the lumber jack and decided he was worth at least one more date…. (Yep, he showed up to the next one, in a flanno, also!).

Being the age we are, we decided to give it a real go, so, I (Jess) found a job and moved out to the country, 50% of the time. I did that during Harvest, quite possibly ….. no, definitely…. THE busiest time of the year for a grain farmer. It was overwhelming, to say the least.

We decided we love watching the cows on sunset, the fur babies love each other, and the town fur babies have decided they’re pretty happy, out on the farm. So I’ve packed up, become a first time farmer 🧑‍🌾 😉 and moved my life out to the country.

As all love stories go, we’ve met each others’ friends, family, nearest and dearest; experienced ups and downs; laughter; disagreements and most of all, LOVE!

After some *not so* subtle hints about pretty rings, Dave obviously realised he knew what was good for him and actioned the request 😜

He asked Di (my mum) if she would give her blessings and then excitedly waited for the ring to arrive.

It was a Friday, I was off work and having a day of bed rotting, in my pjs, feeling sorry for myself and telling Dave I missed him. So he followed that up with ‘you’d better come to the front door then’ ….. a bit confused, I walked out there, saw his dog, Milly, saw him all dressed up (he managed to graduate from the flan for this), and he asked me to marry him. There were tears and giggles and the best feelings, ever!

We can’t wait to share the next big moment in our lives, with our loved ones, and keep writing our story! 💕
