An alto and a tenor walk into All-State Honors Choir and create a beautiful love story.

In 2015, Jess and Shane both auditioned for and got into the All-State Honors Choir. This event is a weekend at Western Michigan University with lots of rehearsals and bonding events. We met through common friends and immediately had eyes for each other. Though, we were young and lived two hours away from each other.

Skip forward 2 years and in 2017 we randomly reconnected. On March 28th, 2017, Jessica snapchatted Shane a picture of someone that went to his high school asking if he knew the person. This sparked conversation between the estranged couple and the rest was history.

Jessica and Shane spent the next 4 years dating while living 1-2 hours apart (depending on when Jess was at Central Michigan University or at home in Grand Haven). Luckily, they were able to visit each other pretty often. Sometimes they would go 2 weeks between visits and sometimes it was 2 months.

Then, after being long-distance for 4 years, Jess moved in with Shane for the summer of 2020. This was the best test for their relationship. They grew closer and closer and knew more than ever that this was a beautiful relationship. At the end of that summer, Jess had to move home to Grand Haven for her final semester of college to Student Teach at Mona Shores High School.

Once all of her schooling was done and a semester of substitute teaching at her home school, Jess officially moved in with Shane in Owosso, Michigan on June 9th, 2021. Meanwhile, Shane was working at Gilberts and Jess started her first teaching job at Kearsley. Then they both decided to change jobs.

In 2022, Jess got a new job teaching choir at Owosso High School and has been loving it. Shane switched careers and started working for a small construction company and is also loving it! On October 8th, Shane proposed in Jess's home town looking over Lake Michigan. It was beautiful. At the end of that month, they moved into a super cute rental house. The year was full of changes and all of them were for the better.

2023 is going to be the best year yet though! We truly cannot wait to see what this year has for us. Cheers to 2023!
