Our Wedding

Danny&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;met&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;most&nbsp;unexpected&nbsp;place:&nbsp;the&nbsp;diner&nbsp;where&nbsp;I&nbsp;was&nbsp;working&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;time.&nbsp;Like&nbsp;many&nbsp;shifts,&nbsp;I&nbsp;had&nbsp;taken&nbsp;over&nbsp;the&nbsp;jukebox,&nbsp;filling&nbsp;the&nbsp;room&nbsp;with&nbsp;my&nbsp;favorite&nbsp;music—mostly&nbsp;punk,&nbsp;emo,&nbsp;rock,&nbsp;and&nbsp;pop.&nbsp;It&nbsp;wasn’t&nbsp;exactly&nbsp;a&nbsp;hit&nbsp;with&nbsp;the&nbsp;usual&nbsp;crowd&nbsp;of&nbsp;sixty-and-up&nbsp;regulars,&nbsp;so&nbsp;I’d&nbsp;learned&nbsp;not&nbsp;to&nbsp;expect&nbsp;much&nbsp;enthusiasm. Then&nbsp;I&nbsp;noticed&nbsp;someone&nbsp;headbanging. Danny&nbsp;was&nbsp;actually&nbsp;enjoying&nbsp;the&nbsp;music.&nbsp;Really&nbsp;enjoying&nbsp;it.&nbsp;That&nbsp;alone&nbsp;caught&nbsp;my&nbsp;attention.&nbsp;I&nbsp;was&nbsp;so&nbsp;surprised—and&nbsp;honestly&nbsp;excited—that&nbsp;I&nbsp;had&nbsp;to&nbsp;stop&nbsp;by&nbsp;his&nbsp;table&nbsp;and&nbsp;ask&nbsp;if&nbsp;he&nbsp;truly&nbsp;liked&nbsp;the&nbsp;song&nbsp;or&nbsp;if&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;just&nbsp;being&nbsp;polite. Without&nbsp;hesitation,&nbsp;he&nbsp;smiled&nbsp;and&nbsp;said,&nbsp;“This&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;great&nbsp;song.&nbsp;I&nbsp;love&nbsp;this&nbsp;band.&nbsp;Who&nbsp;doesn’t&nbsp;like&nbsp;My&nbsp;Chemical&nbsp;Romance?” Danny&nbsp;didn’t&nbsp;let&nbsp;that&nbsp;moment&nbsp;pass.&nbsp;He&nbsp;pursued&nbsp;me,&nbsp;determined&nbsp;to&nbsp;get&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;me&nbsp;better.&nbsp;I&nbsp;tried&nbsp;to&nbsp;let&nbsp;him&nbsp;down&nbsp;gently&nbsp;at&nbsp;first,&nbsp;but&nbsp;he&nbsp;insisted&nbsp;we&nbsp;at&nbsp;least&nbsp;be&nbsp;friends.&nbsp;And&nbsp;so&nbsp;we&nbsp;were.&nbsp;We&nbsp;talked&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;phone,&nbsp;getting&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;little&nbsp;by&nbsp;little,&nbsp;until&nbsp;eventually&nbsp;we&nbsp;planned&nbsp;a&nbsp;date. What&nbsp;we&nbsp;didn’t&nbsp;expect&nbsp;was&nbsp;how&nbsp;perfectly&nbsp;it&nbsp;would&nbsp;go. That&nbsp;first&nbsp;date&nbsp;turned&nbsp;out&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;a&nbsp;complete&nbsp;hit,&nbsp;and&nbsp;from&nbsp;there,&nbsp;everything&nbsp;just&nbsp;clicked.&nbsp;Somewhere&nbsp;between&nbsp;laughter,&nbsp;late-night&nbsp;talks,&nbsp;and&nbsp;shared&nbsp;moments,&nbsp;we&nbsp;realized&nbsp;we&nbsp;had&nbsp;joined&nbsp;forces&nbsp;on&nbsp;this&nbsp;wild,&nbsp;beautiful&nbsp;journey&nbsp;called&nbsp;life.

In the Beginning There Was A Song 

Danny&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;continued&nbsp;to&nbsp;get&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;and&nbsp;we&nbsp;had&nbsp;so&nbsp;many&nbsp;things&nbsp;in&nbsp;common&nbsp;.&nbsp;Shows&nbsp;we&nbsp;loved&nbsp;to&nbsp;watch&nbsp;,&nbsp;our&nbsp;foodie&nbsp;ways&nbsp;,&nbsp;our&nbsp;goofball&nbsp;antics.&nbsp;We&nbsp;also&nbsp;complimented&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;in&nbsp;our&nbsp;behaviors&nbsp;and&nbsp;mindsets.&nbsp;&nbsp;Where&nbsp;I&nbsp;was&nbsp;already&nbsp;in&nbsp;next&nbsp;week,&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;present&nbsp;time.&nbsp;He&nbsp;learned&nbsp;to&nbsp;see&nbsp;the&nbsp;big&nbsp;picture&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;learned&nbsp;to&nbsp;live&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;moment.&nbsp;We&nbsp;also&nbsp;did&nbsp;what&nbsp;any&nbsp;reasonable&nbsp;couple&nbsp;does;&nbsp;we&nbsp;fought&nbsp;and&nbsp;fought&nbsp;until&nbsp;we&nbsp;got&nbsp;tired&nbsp;of&nbsp;fighting&nbsp;and&nbsp;we&nbsp;learned&nbsp;to&nbsp;communicate&nbsp;and&nbsp;compromise&nbsp;and&nbsp;if&nbsp;need&nbsp;be&nbsp;to&nbsp;let&nbsp;it&nbsp;go.&nbsp;(&nbsp;Hey&nbsp;if&nbsp;it's&nbsp;one&nbsp;thing&nbsp;we&nbsp;are&nbsp;NOT&nbsp;sugarcoated.&nbsp;)&nbsp;If&nbsp;you&nbsp;know&nbsp;you&nbsp;know&nbsp;and&nbsp;if&nbsp;you&nbsp;don't&nbsp;ask&nbsp;us&nbsp;we&nbsp;will&nbsp;tell&nbsp;you&nbsp;the&nbsp;details.&nbsp;😉&nbsp;No&nbsp;pelos&nbsp;en&nbsp;la&nbsp;lengua. Anime marathons , Snacks , and Serious Conversations 

Together&nbsp;Danny&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;have&nbsp;4&nbsp;children.&nbsp;We&nbsp;have&nbsp;Sonri&nbsp;Rose&nbsp;Gaddis&nbsp;who&nbsp;is&nbsp;19&nbsp;.&nbsp;We&nbsp;are&nbsp;so&nbsp;proud&nbsp;of&nbsp;her.&nbsp;She&nbsp;is&nbsp;both&nbsp;talented&nbsp;and&nbsp;determined&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;gentle&nbsp;person&nbsp;who&nbsp;has&nbsp;found&nbsp;her&nbsp;voice.&nbsp; Adam&nbsp;Roberto&nbsp;Aguilera&nbsp;who&nbsp;we&nbsp;are&nbsp;grateful&nbsp;for&nbsp;.&nbsp;He&nbsp;has&nbsp;always&nbsp;been&nbsp;a&nbsp;good&nbsp;big&nbsp;and&nbsp;little&nbsp;brother&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;wonderful&nbsp;son.&nbsp;&nbsp;Valkyrie&nbsp;Marigold&nbsp;Pena&nbsp;.&nbsp;What&nbsp;can&nbsp;we&nbsp;say&nbsp;is&nbsp;Valkyrie&nbsp;is&nbsp;Danny's&nbsp;mini&nbsp;me.&nbsp;She's&nbsp;loud&nbsp;,&nbsp;loving&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;goofball.&nbsp;In&nbsp;that&nbsp;exact&nbsp;order.&nbsp;Then&nbsp;our&nbsp;Baby&nbsp;Bruce&nbsp;Humberto&nbsp;Esquivel.&nbsp;Bruce&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;spitting&nbsp;image&nbsp;of&nbsp;his&nbsp;father&nbsp;and&nbsp;grandfather.&nbsp;He&nbsp;is&nbsp;quiet&nbsp;and&nbsp;selective&nbsp;of&nbsp;who&nbsp;he&nbsp;interacts&nbsp;with&nbsp;do&nbsp;not&nbsp;take&nbsp;it&nbsp;personal&nbsp;if&nbsp;he&nbsp;pretends&nbsp;you're&nbsp;not&nbsp;there.&nbsp;He&nbsp;is&nbsp;sweet&nbsp;and&nbsp;involved&nbsp;once&nbsp;he&nbsp;gets&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;you&nbsp;.&nbsp;He&nbsp;loves&nbsp;his&nbsp;parents&nbsp;and&nbsp;siblings.&nbsp;Then&nbsp;there&nbsp;is&nbsp;Dominic&nbsp;who&nbsp;is&nbsp;Danny's&nbsp;little&nbsp;brother.&nbsp;Dominic&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;special&nbsp;young&nbsp;man&nbsp;who's&nbsp;been&nbsp;a&nbsp;great&nbsp;uncle&nbsp;and&nbsp;an&nbsp;amazing&nbsp;help&nbsp;and&nbsp;part&nbsp;of&nbsp;our&nbsp;family&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;am&nbsp;proud&nbsp;to&nbsp;call&nbsp;him&nbsp;brother&nbsp;in&nbsp;law&nbsp;soon.&nbsp;This&nbsp;is&nbsp;our&nbsp;family&nbsp;the&nbsp;thing&nbsp;we&nbsp;value&nbsp;most&nbsp;.&nbsp;Danny&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;do&nbsp;everything&nbsp;and&nbsp;anything&nbsp;for&nbsp;these&nbsp;people&nbsp;right&nbsp;here.&nbsp;So&nbsp;if&nbsp;you&nbsp;see&nbsp;us&nbsp;with&nbsp;a&nbsp;headache&nbsp;more&nbsp;than&nbsp;likely&nbsp;it&nbsp;was&nbsp;one&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;people&nbsp;I&nbsp;just&nbsp;named&nbsp;causing&nbsp;it&nbsp;.&nbsp;(&nbsp;Hey&nbsp;we&nbsp;said&nbsp;we&nbsp;are&nbsp;NOT&nbsp;sugarcoated)&nbsp;╮⁠(⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠)⁠╭

Our&nbsp;fathers&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;here&nbsp;in&nbsp;spirit.&nbsp;That&nbsp;spirit&nbsp;is&nbsp;mischievous&nbsp;,&nbsp;caring&nbsp;,&nbsp;loud,&nbsp;and&nbsp;&nbsp;warm.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jose&nbsp;Humberto&nbsp;Esquivel&nbsp;was&nbsp;a&nbsp;hardworking&nbsp;father&nbsp;,&nbsp;a&nbsp;brother&nbsp;and&nbsp;son&nbsp;and&nbsp;grandfather.&nbsp;He&nbsp;will&nbsp;always&nbsp;be&nbsp;remembered&nbsp;and&nbsp;honored&nbsp;.&nbsp;Christopher&nbsp;Riojas&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;man&nbsp;I&nbsp;called&nbsp;father&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;our&nbsp;everything&nbsp;and&nbsp;taught&nbsp;us&nbsp;to&nbsp;not&nbsp;be&nbsp;afraid&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;open&nbsp;and&nbsp;loud.&nbsp;Our&nbsp;dads&nbsp;might&nbsp;not&nbsp;be&nbsp;here&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;physical&nbsp;but&nbsp;they&nbsp;most&nbsp;certainly&nbsp;are&nbsp;here&nbsp;amongst&nbsp;our&nbsp;love&nbsp;and&nbsp;it's&nbsp;only&nbsp;for&nbsp;now,&nbsp;not&nbsp;goodbye.&nbsp;We&nbsp;love&nbsp;you&nbsp;.

Our Pops 

I&nbsp;usually&nbsp;work&nbsp;on&nbsp;my&nbsp;birthday—December&nbsp;24th—and&nbsp;would&nbsp;never&nbsp;think&nbsp;to&nbsp;take&nbsp;the&nbsp;entire&nbsp;day&nbsp;off,&nbsp;Danny&nbsp;had&nbsp;no&nbsp;choice&nbsp;but&nbsp;to&nbsp;tell&nbsp;me&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;going&nbsp;to&nbsp;propose.&nbsp;Otherwise,&nbsp;I&nbsp;would&nbsp;have&nbsp;gone&nbsp;to&nbsp;work&nbsp;like&nbsp;it&nbsp;was&nbsp;any&nbsp;other&nbsp;day.&nbsp;Even&nbsp;knowing&nbsp;what&nbsp;was&nbsp;coming,&nbsp;I&nbsp;had&nbsp;no&nbsp;idea&nbsp;how&nbsp;he&nbsp;planned&nbsp;to&nbsp;do&nbsp;it—and&nbsp;somehow,&nbsp;that&nbsp;made&nbsp;the&nbsp;anticipation&nbsp;even&nbsp;stronger. He&nbsp;planned&nbsp;everything&nbsp;himself. He&nbsp;began&nbsp;the&nbsp;day&nbsp;by&nbsp;making&nbsp;sure&nbsp;I&nbsp;had&nbsp;breakfast,&nbsp;then&nbsp;took&nbsp;my&nbsp;mom&nbsp;and&nbsp;me&nbsp;out,&nbsp;grounding&nbsp;the&nbsp;moment&nbsp;in&nbsp;love&nbsp;and&nbsp;family.&nbsp;Later,&nbsp;he&nbsp;placed&nbsp;into&nbsp;my&nbsp;hands&nbsp;a&nbsp;bouquet&nbsp;of&nbsp;one&nbsp;hundred&nbsp;roses,&nbsp;each&nbsp;a&nbsp;different&nbsp;color,&nbsp;wrapped&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;ribbon&nbsp;that&nbsp;read,&nbsp;“To&nbsp;the&nbsp;start&nbsp;of&nbsp;forever.”&nbsp;From&nbsp;that&nbsp;moment&nbsp;on,&nbsp;my&nbsp;heart&nbsp;stayed&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;quiet&nbsp;state&nbsp;of&nbsp;suspense.&nbsp;I&nbsp;didn’t&nbsp;know&nbsp;when&nbsp;he&nbsp;would&nbsp;ask,&nbsp;only&nbsp;that&nbsp;the&nbsp;moment&nbsp;was&nbsp;waiting&nbsp;somewhere&nbsp;ahead&nbsp;of&nbsp;us.&nbsp;I&nbsp;felt&nbsp;a&nbsp;kind&nbsp;of&nbsp;nervousness&nbsp;I&nbsp;had&nbsp;never&nbsp;known&nbsp;before.&nbsp; We&nbsp;gathered&nbsp;all&nbsp;of&nbsp;our&nbsp;children&nbsp;and&nbsp;Dominic&nbsp;and&nbsp;made&nbsp;our&nbsp;way&nbsp;to&nbsp;Medieval&nbsp;Times.&nbsp;There,&nbsp;surrounded&nbsp;by&nbsp;cheers&nbsp;and&nbsp;candlelight,&nbsp;the&nbsp;king&nbsp;and&nbsp;queen&nbsp;knighted&nbsp;us.&nbsp;When&nbsp;they&nbsp;turned&nbsp;to&nbsp;Danny&nbsp;and&nbsp;asked&nbsp;if&nbsp;he&nbsp;had&nbsp;any&nbsp;questions. He&nbsp;turned&nbsp;toward&nbsp;me. He&nbsp;stepped&nbsp;closer,&nbsp;took&nbsp;my&nbsp;hands&nbsp;in&nbsp;his,&nbsp;and&nbsp;spoke.&nbsp;I&nbsp;couldn’t&nbsp;tell&nbsp;you&nbsp;what&nbsp;he&nbsp;said—not&nbsp;because&nbsp;it&nbsp;didn’t&nbsp;matter,&nbsp;but&nbsp;because&nbsp;the&nbsp;words&nbsp;dissolved&nbsp;into&nbsp;feeling.&nbsp;Time&nbsp;seemed&nbsp;to&nbsp;stop.&nbsp;Everything&nbsp;went&nbsp;still.&nbsp;I&nbsp;felt&nbsp;like&nbsp;I&nbsp;could&nbsp;disappear&nbsp;into&nbsp;the&nbsp;moment&nbsp;entirely.&nbsp;Yet&nbsp;his&nbsp;hands,&nbsp;warm&nbsp;and&nbsp;steady&nbsp;in&nbsp;mine,&nbsp;anchored&nbsp;me—keeping&nbsp;me&nbsp;grounded,&nbsp;keeping&nbsp;me&nbsp;here.&nbsp; And&nbsp;then&nbsp;I&nbsp;heard&nbsp;it. Will&nbsp;you&nbsp;marry&nbsp;me? In&nbsp;that&nbsp;instant,&nbsp;the&nbsp;answer&nbsp;felt&nbsp;older&nbsp;than&nbsp;the&nbsp;question,&nbsp;as&nbsp;if&nbsp;my&nbsp;heart&nbsp;had&nbsp;known&nbsp;it&nbsp;long&nbsp;before&nbsp;my&nbsp;voice&nbsp;could&nbsp;say&nbsp;it.&nbsp;Saying&nbsp;I&nbsp;do&nbsp;felt&nbsp;like&nbsp;the&nbsp;most&nbsp;right&nbsp;thing&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;world.&nbsp; (Then&nbsp;I&nbsp;ugly&nbsp;cried&nbsp;,&nbsp;thank&nbsp;God&nbsp;for&nbsp;waterproof&nbsp;mascara&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;amazing&nbsp;jobs&nbsp;of&nbsp;Elda&nbsp;my&nbsp;hair&nbsp;stylist&nbsp;and&nbsp;Andrea&nbsp;my&nbsp;makeup&nbsp;artist.&nbsp;For&nbsp;keeping&nbsp;me&nbsp;looking&nbsp;cute.&nbsp;💅🏽)

Danny&nbsp;and&nbsp;I&nbsp;have&nbsp;two&nbsp;great&nbsp;moms&nbsp;who&nbsp;I&nbsp;am&nbsp;sure&nbsp;you&nbsp;will&nbsp;see&nbsp;.&nbsp;They&nbsp;are&nbsp;probably&nbsp;somewhere&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;dancefloor&nbsp;,&nbsp;chatting&nbsp;up&nbsp;a&nbsp;storm&nbsp;,&nbsp;toasting&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;100th&nbsp;time.&nbsp;Where&nbsp;would&nbsp;we&nbsp;be&nbsp;without&nbsp;our&nbsp;mom's.&nbsp;Not&nbsp;here&nbsp;that's&nbsp;for&nbsp;sure.&nbsp;Thank&nbsp;you&nbsp;to&nbsp;my&nbsp;mom&nbsp;for&nbsp;giving&nbsp;me&nbsp;life&nbsp;for&nbsp;everything&nbsp;you&nbsp;did&nbsp;and&nbsp;didn't&nbsp;do&nbsp;.&nbsp;It&nbsp;all&nbsp;made&nbsp;me&nbsp;into&nbsp;who&nbsp;I&nbsp;am&nbsp;here&nbsp;and&nbsp;now&nbsp;.&nbsp;A&nbsp;mother&nbsp;myself&nbsp;I&nbsp;hope&nbsp;to&nbsp;one&nbsp;day&nbsp;be&nbsp;where&nbsp;you&nbsp;are&nbsp;.&nbsp;Looking&nbsp;at&nbsp;my&nbsp;children&nbsp;marry&nbsp;and&nbsp;grow&nbsp;my&nbsp;family&nbsp;by&nbsp;their&nbsp;side&nbsp;as&nbsp;long&nbsp;as&nbsp;God&nbsp;will&nbsp;allow&nbsp;me.&nbsp;To&nbsp;Yolanda&nbsp;your&nbsp;sweet&nbsp;boy&nbsp;is&nbsp;very&nbsp;much&nbsp;there&nbsp;.&nbsp;He's&nbsp;there&nbsp;when&nbsp;I&nbsp;am&nbsp;having&nbsp;a&nbsp;fit&nbsp;and&nbsp;he&nbsp;looks&nbsp;at&nbsp;me&nbsp;and&nbsp;says&nbsp;it's&nbsp;okay&nbsp;baby&nbsp;we&nbsp;are&nbsp;going&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;okay&nbsp;and&nbsp;he&nbsp;forces&nbsp;me&nbsp;into&nbsp;his&nbsp;arms.&nbsp;When&nbsp;he&nbsp;picks&nbsp;up&nbsp;our&nbsp;children&nbsp;and&nbsp;holds&nbsp;them&nbsp;.&nbsp;When&nbsp;he&nbsp;reads&nbsp;them&nbsp;their&nbsp;bedtime&nbsp;stories&nbsp;and&nbsp;wipes&nbsp;away&nbsp;their&nbsp;tears.&nbsp;I&nbsp;will&nbsp;do&nbsp;my&nbsp;best&nbsp;to&nbsp;keep&nbsp;him&nbsp;happy&nbsp;and&nbsp;sweet.&nbsp;To&nbsp;our&nbsp;moms&nbsp;!&nbsp; (&nbsp;And&nbsp;yes&nbsp;soon&nbsp;the&nbsp;picture&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;of&nbsp;both&nbsp;our&nbsp;moms,&nbsp;look&nbsp;forward&nbsp;to&nbsp;it&nbsp;😉)

People say this coffee shop serves delicious coffee, breakfast burritos, chorizo tacos, and stuffed French toast. They highlight the cozy atmosphere, board games, and seasonal coffee options. They also like the friendly staff and excellent service.

House of Brews

Very kind, laid back nice ladies work here, amazing selection of antiques as well, and very reasonable prices on everything. Ended up getting an old timey manual razor that like the electric buzzer heads but operated like scizzors, a leather jacket, and a nice shirt. They also have pops for $2 which is a nice little amenity. The folk who work here are sweet older ladies who remind me of my grandma, definitely worth stopping in if you want a laid back easygoing shopping and browsing experience. Bravo! 👏🏻
