Their journey began at a small bar along Highway 161 near Iola, Wisconsin, on January 27, 2024. John was attending a pool tournament with Darrin (Best Man) while Jessica was spending yet another weekend with Lindsey (Maid of Honor) frequenting some local taverns. John approached Jessica and Lindsey insisting he recognized them from last years pool tournament. Jessica and Lindsey most definitely were not at last years pool tournament nor have they ever seen him before. As the evening progressed, they continued to get to know one another. Their connection was undeniable, enough that Jessica even gave a preview of her talent for singing Karaoke before John. She sang, "Stay" by Rihanna and John affirmed she could use some work. Nearing the end of the night, John ordered some food from the bar. Jessica inquired, I want one of your chicken tenders. To which John replied, I want to date you.

The following day, Jessica decided to end their brief relationship due to Johns infrequent communication. John, acknowledging his shortcomings, shared that he had received a Worst Texter of the Year trophy from his mother and expressed a willingness to improve. They reached a compromise and planned their first official date for the following weekend.

John arranged their first date, which involved golfing at a simulator, given Jessicas self-described status as a bogey golfer. Despite her "below par" golf performance that day, their connection flourished.

On February 14, 2024, John formally asked Jessica to be his girlfriend, and from that point onward, they have been inseparable. In early May, Jessica moved into Johns residence. Despite the distance, with John working in Oconomowoc throughout the week and Jessica residing in Wausau, they maintained their relationship through frequent surprise visits and shared weekends. Their weekends were often filled with golfing, during which Jessica, with Johns guidance, regained her bogey golfer status.

John, certain that Jessica was the missing piece in his life, purchased a ring in early July with the intention of proposing on her birthday in the Wisconsin Dells. However, due to Jessicas fathers extended sailing trip, John was unable to seek his permission to marry her. He held onto the ring until September 20, 2024, when Jessicas father safely returned. On that weekend, John proposed, and Jessica accepted, agreeing to spend their lives together.

John and Jessica embarked on their relationship in stride, choosing to support and cherish each other through both the good times and the challenging moments. Their journey together has been brief, yet their feelings for one another are unparalleled, unlike anything they have ever experienced. They choose to wake up each day choosing one another for the rest of their lives.
