Part One: Putney Zach and Jess met at Putney Summer Programs in 2016. Unfortunately, in the first moments of meeting were not what one would call kismet. Jess ran a very active theater game for the whole staff and Zach, after enjoying the delicious lunch buffet, was not in a place to be jumping around. But, first impressions in this case, we’re not lasting. The two quickly became Work Husband and Work Wife. Theatre and Film require actors, and there are only so many of those in any given summer program. Communication and ease became hallmarks of these early days. After Putney, the two moved in the Putney Friends circle. They’d see each other at events like Pirates Day Eve and Stella’s Birthday, but nothing more seemed in the cards for these two buddies. Eventually, Zach dated Jess’s roommate (this is a longer story, involving many citations and footnotes, and there are only so many words this app lets you add to the Story section) and as you can assume, that eventually ended. Zach and Jess didn’t see each other for a while, until one faithful day, on the F Train. Part Two: Therapy Train Jess would take the F train to work every day to arrive by 10:00 (yes, she had a nice, late start time). Coincidently, Zach’s therapist, which he’s been going to since childhood, had an office that was close to an F train stop. One morning, our two love birds just happened to end up on the same train at the same time. They chatted for the first time in months; catching up with each other, finding out how the other had been fairing. They made a plan to meet again the following Thursday on the same train in the same car. Therapy Train Thursdays became a regular highlight of the week. Part Three: That Pandemic March 2020, Jess moved out of her then apartment after her former roommate had vacated it a few days earlier. as always, Zach is the friend with a van, that loves to help any friend move. 15 days later, shutdown began. Zach and Jess would have occasional Netflix party hangouts, watching B or C rated films and cracking jokes throughout the whole thing. Part four: Still the pandemic, but less? May if 2021, a few of the Putney crew decided they wanted to get together, having not seen each other for a long while, and go to the beach. As with many Putney outings, Zach would drive. Since Jess lived all the way in Astoria at the time, so she asked Zach if she could just stay over so she wouldn’t have to travel so far that next morning. Zach drove up to pick Jess up and back down to Brooklyn. Unbeknownst to Jess, Zach had already started the rumblings of interest. Jess had been a having a little fling with a guy, which
