Jessica and Joel's story begins in high school their freshman year in 2012. Although they were just friends during this time, there was always a connection between them. Even after graduating in 2016 when both went their separate ways, fate managed to bring them back together after 3 years during an outing with friends. After rekindling their friendship, Dutch Bros, Uno, and park dates became a regular occurrence. During the Fall of 2019 their friendship grew into a relationship.

In March of 2022, Joel was sure he was ready to ask the big question. With the help of Jessica's sister, Joel managed to find the perfect engagement ring for Jessica. In August, one month prior the proposal, Joel met with Jessica's parents to get their blessings for her hand in marriage. After receiving their blessings, Joel would propose to Jessica in September of 2022.
