Jessica and I grew up going to middle school and high school together. We knew of each other, but ultimately hung with different crowds.

At the beginning of 2023 we reconnected on a dating app and after catching up, decided to meet in person! I was so nervous I was visibly shaking. I will always remember that first date because that was the day I realized how amazing Jessica is and how badly I wanted to make her happy.

Fast forward and we have been dating for over a year. We are going to Colorado to stay with Jessica's grandparents and enjoy some mountain air! Soon after we arrived, Jessica was eager to go out on the four wheelers and find a place to picnic. The weather was not as accommodating as had hoped and some rain delayed our picnic plans. We still had several days left in Colorado, so I wasn't worried. Jessica, on the other hand, was very persistent. We were going on that picnic THAT DAY. I thought it was a little weird, but I still wanted to go, so after waiting for the rain to pass we headed out to find a good picnic spot. We ended up at this beautiful cliff that was looking over a flowing river, it was absolutely beautiful. I was completely oblivious to Jessica setting up the tripod and setting her phone to record a video. I was sitting on the edge of the cliff, admiring Colorado's beauty, when Jess walked over, took my hand, and stood me up. She was now the one visibly shaking and I still had no clue what was happening. She dropped to one knee, said some romantic things (proof in the video bc I was in shock) and asked me to be her wife! I have never been so surprised and caught off guard! I of course said yes and now here we are, planning our dream wedding! I am so excited and grateful to be marrying such an incredibly beautiful, smart, determined, kind woman and I can't wait for happily ever after!

Jessica's version:

Its winter 2023 and I am scrolling through the apps, mainly out of boredom. I wanted and was ready for a relationship but I honestly didn't think anything special or real would come from a silly little app. Boy was I wrong.

I come across Becca's profile and say to myself, "Hey I went to high school with her.. and she beautiful!" So I swiped. We spent almost 2 weeks chatting before we were finally able to meet up. I know now that she came very close to cancelling on me because she was so nervous but her best friend talked her out of it (thank you Jami!). We had an incredible night and I knew that she was very special and I wanted to continue getting to know her. I texted her the next morning that I couldn't wait to see her again, "how about tonight?" Within weeks I was falling in love, having to fight not to say those words yet. One night, I was at her apartment and it had just started to rain. I asked her to take a walk with me. She looked at me like I was crazy but followed me out the door. We made it to the middle of the street and I told her that I was in love with her and excited to see where life takes this beautiful relationship we have created. The rest is history.

Our annual summer trip to Colorado is always special and fun and we love spending time in the mountains and with my grandparents. So naturally I thought this would be a perfect place to propose. I bought the ring, I spoke with her whole family, I repeated and edited my speech probably 1000 times on the way there. I was ready I had it completely memorized. Its picnic day in the mountains and it was a gorgeous morning... but that didn't last long. It got very cold and rainy but at this point I didn't know how much longer I could hold this ring in my pocket. I was by far the most nervous I had ever been in my whole life. I was determined to make it happen that day. Thankfully the weather was cooperative and we found a beautiful spot. At this point I did not think I could get any more nervous but it was just building. Were standing on the edge of the cliff with stunning scenery in the background and to this day I am not even sure what I said but it was not the well thought out and loving speech I had prepared. All I know it ended with "will you marry me?" and she said yes. Once I was able to stop shaking, I tearfully shared my speech with her which led to more tears. Becca is the absolute, unequivocal love of my life. She is gorgeous, smart, driven, funny and I honestly can't believe I get to share my life with such an incredible person.
