Hi Guys, Jess here.. Some of you may be wondering how I, God's personal gift to Kenny happened to have crossed paths with that unsuspecting gentle giant and wind up here- eight years, two babies, two dogs and a house later.. *Clears throat*WELL, LET ME TELL YOU... It all started at a wedding I was never meant to attend, that Kenny, almost didn't go to. For most of you, and by most I expect that all of you are aware that back before Kenny was the old man you see before you today, he was quite the social butterfly who always had a friend in tow with him. That friend was almost always one of his best friends, Stephen ( which is it's own long drawn- out love story in itself but you're not here for that). Kenny was invited to a wedding, and had brought Stephen as his plus one. I on the other hand, was the plus one for one of my best friends, Danielle who was a bridesmaid.The wedding itself went on as most weddings do and I was still unaware by Kenny's existence. It was after the wedding where we crash landed into one other's worlds. Stephen by now was buying me a drink at a bar downtown in Livermore after some people from the wedding decided to go out after the reception. And this ladies and gents is when *it* happened. Kenny snatched Stephen's beer, sat down beside me, and started talking baseball with me. He's a Giant's fan, I'm clearly not and love a good opportunity for banter.I took the bait. Well, sort of. One beer turned into many beer's with a healthy amount of friendly debate but the evening ended with him kissing my hand and telling me he had hoped I'd call him. ( I know, so cute, right!?) It wasn't until a few week's later that I reached out, and after talking for a little while longer ( and by that I mean Kenny took like almost three weeks to finally ask me) , we went out on our very first date. That first year was a tough one for Kenny and I. We became pregnant with our first child, our daughter Hope who passed away shortly after she was born when I went into pre-term labor unexpectedly. I can go into the statistics but I would say for two people who *statistically* shouldn't have made it, I'd like to think we haven't done too bad at all. Kenny moved in that same year, and we learned how to not only share closet space ( it's still a struggle), but how to allow ourselves to really learn from one another and let our relationship evolve as organically as possible. Years went by with countless vacations, memories, mistakes, learning, growing and laughter. In June of 2020, Kenny who was dressed in his finest Wakanda sweatpants got down on one knee and proposed late one evening. Simple. Sweet. Just the two of us and I wouldn't have had it any other way.After finding our venue, our bridal party, and even my dress we were ready to do the damn thing and get married in October 2021.Plot twist: Hudson Miller has entered the game. Kenny and I found out we were pregnant with our long awaited rainbow baby in early March, and if you do the math correctly that would almost certainly mean one very important thing: My dress wasn't going to fit! I'd be nine months pregnant and there was absolutely no way I was going to waddle down the isle, much less in any way that this dress isn't intended to be worn! So, we rescheduled for October 15, 2022. On November 01, 2021 we quietly welcomed Hudson into the world. Although my pregnancy was anything but simple, his delivery was sweet. Just Kenny and I, with Hope in our hearts and finally, with Hudson in our arms. I couldn't have asked for anything more. So, here we finally are! Two people who were never looking for one another, who by chance met somewhere they likely wouldn't have been, who've survived hell and back a few times over together.. all because of what that one beer turned into.
