Jack and Jess's story began in August of 2009. They met in World History class freshman year at El Camino High School. They immediately connected and continued to stay close friends throughout all of high school. After graduating Jack attended the University of Arizona to play football and Jess attended San Diego State University to pursue dance. They remained close, keeping in touch through weekly texts (mostly took a week because Jess took that long to reply) and occasional FaceTime sessions. After a full year away, Jack decided to move back to California in pursuit of a new University. He landed at Southwestern college in Chula Vista to complete his NCAA transfer year and maintain his eligibility. Jess soon found out that Jack's new school was only 15 minutes away. She invited him over to hang out with her and her roommates and the rest is history. Jack and Jess became inseparable and their close friendship soon turned in to a love that continued to grow throughout their college careers. After graduating from Southwestern College Jack was recruited by the University of San Diego to play football and ended up less than 10 minutes away from Jess. Their story is evidence that everything happens for a reason. They couldn't be happier to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife and best friends.
On January 6, 2019, Jack and Jess headed down to the Montage in Laguna Beach. They were meeting both of their parents for dinner at The Loft to celebrate Jess’ 24th birthday…or so Jess thought. What was really happening was a plan Jack had set into motion months prior beginning in the first week of October, 2018. Jack went to Jess’ childhood home and asked her father for permission to marry her. After receiving the first big yes Jack was looking for, the planning began. Not only did Jack want to surprise Jess with the proposal, but he also had a second surprise in mind. After the proposal, he would take Jess to the real dinner location where her entire family would be there waiting to celebrate. Jack even coordinated with Jess’ oldest brother Jimbo to fly in from Oregon for the big day, understanding how much her family means to her.
The week of the proposal arrived. All was lining up perfectly; Jack had the photographer, the reservation and the cover story. All was going perfectly except the weather and Jess’ health. It was raining and was scheduled to rain all week. Jess had caught a cold and was considering rescheduling the dinner if she didn’t feel better. Knowing this was not an option, Jack made a trip to Sprouts and bought out the entire health and wellness section. Jess was able to make a full recovery by the day of, and the rain finally stopped; the plan was still on.
Jack’s goal was to lure Jess down to the beach, take a walk and end up in a perfect spot between the beautiful sunset and the undercover photographer posing as a random bystander. As with many plans, not everything goes as planned. Jack and Jess walked down to the spot and discovered a maternity shoot was taking place. Adjusting on the fly and with a quick signal to the photographer, Jack was able to get Jess into another location which worked just as well. Jack then dropped down to one knee, pulled out the ring and asked Jess to marry him. Jess said yes, crying and forgetting about the ring entirely.
After taking tons of pictures with the photographer, Jack told Jess they were actually going to another restaurant down the road and their parents were waiting. Unaware of what was waiting for her, Jess got in the car excited to see her parents. Jack and Jess arrived and walked into the restaurant. Jess immediately began bawling at the sight of her entire family at the table…all except one. Jess had mentioned on the car ride to the beach how she hadn’t been able to see Jimbo in a long time. He had come to San Diego months prior, but their schedules did not align. Already overwhelmed and just when she thought she couldn’t handle any more surprises, Jimbo revealed himself from the back where he had been hiding. (He insisted on a dramatic entrance). Jack and Jessica spent their first night engaged surrounded by love and family. Two things they intend on carrying throughout their lives together.
Jessica and Jack bought their first home and now reside in Corona, CA. Jessica is the Dance Director at REVE Dance Conservatory in Rancho Santa Margarita and Jack is serving as a police officer. They have three fur babies Bear, Bronco and Lei Lei.
