How do I get to Punta de Mita?
While driving would be more adventurous, flying is the easiest! Punta de Mita doesn't have an airport, so the closest one to fly into is Puerto Vallarta (PVR). There are plenty of direct and indirect flights to PVR from most major airports in the US.
Okay great, I've landed at PVR. How do I get to the Conrad?
If you're staying at The Conrad, they can coordinate transportation from the airport direct to the hotel for you (you'll need to request this - pvrpm.res@conradhotels.com). It's about a 45 minute drive. Cabs are easy to get from the airport as well. Ubers aren't allowed to pick up at the airport, but you can walk outside after baggage claim and across a pedestrian bridge to get "off property" for an Uber pickup. We don't recommend this, but for the adventurous travelers, feel free!
Additionally, we recommend using https://www.vipvallartatransportation.com to book a pickup if you don't want to use the Conrad or a cab.
How do I communicate with everyone, including the hotel?
WhatsApp is best - it's a communication app available for iOS or Android.
Download WhatsApp on your device of choice, and then anyone who already has WhatsApp (and is already in your contacts) will already appear. Since WhatsApp uses data, you won't get charged crazy international cell fees (but you'll still need an international data plan ).
To coordinate anything with the hotel directly via email, please use this email address: pvrpm.res@conradhotels.com and put Jessica/Zach Wedding in the subject.
Our cell numbers are:
Zach - +1 214-458-1843
Jessica - +1 818-415-4662
Do I need to speak Spanish?
It's useful to know some phrases, but the staff at The Conrad all speak English well enough to take care of anything you need.
If you're taking an Uber/cab or leaving The Conrad, Spanish is good to know, even though most folks know basic English. Google Translate is great to have loaded up before you come.
What's the weather going to be like?
Pretty hot during the day (upper 80s, 90s) and it will cool down at night. It can get pretty humid (50%-75%). Perfect pool weather.
Elephant in the room - what are you doing about COVID precautions?
The Conrad is primarily an outdoor or open air hotel, including the restaurants and bars. We are trying to do as much as possible outside in the evenings, but some indoor time will be unavoidable.
For this reason, we request that everyone attending provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test prior to their arrival.
What about COVID and traveling to Mexico?
There is no longer the need to test negative when returning from Mexico to the United States - so traveling to Mexico is back to the way it was pre-COVID. You just need your passport and a little bit of patience at immigration.
When you're flying into Mexico, you'll have to fill out an immigration form which is very simple - but they will ask where you're staying, including the address. Make sure to have this information ready. Additionally, at immigration they will tear off a small slip for you to keep - DO NOT LOSE THIS. It seems silly, but if you lose that little slip before your return trip, it will cost about $20 and an extra hour at the airport on your way back.
What about the ceremony and reception? Anything to know?
Yes! The wedding ceremony and reception will be at The Conrad beach, so heels would be a bad choice. Shoes optional. Great excuse for a pedicure.
Isn't it Halloween? Or Day of the Dead?
Halloween is 10/31, Day of the Saints is 11/1 and Day of the Dead is 11/2. We're getting more information on ways to celebrate if it's something folks are interested in. Stay tuned.
What are the planned events and which ones are optional?
Well - all events are optional. If you hate us, please don't come!
That being said, here is what we are planning:
Friday evening - Welcome cocktails! This is totally optional, and details are TBD, but we need to know who is planning on coming so we have an accurate head count.
Saturday evening - Rehearsal dinner. Location TBD.
Sunday - Wedding ceremony and reception at The Conrad.
Monday morning - Farewell brunch. Likely at the Conrad, also totally optional - but we will need to know if you'd like to come so we have an accurate head count.
Outside of that, we may have other fun activity ideas, but those are the set ones right now.
What other stuff is there to do in PV or Punta de Mita?
Punta de Mita is a small resort town and doesn't have as much to offer outside of the resorts as PV does.
Most excursions or activities will be out of Puerto Vallarta. Check out the "Things to Do" section of this website for more information!
Where should I eat outside of the hotel in Punta de Mita?
If you're already sick of The Conrad's 3 amazing restaurants, here are some suggestions we've gotten on our travels there:
Junior's Tacos - a few minutes outside of Punta de Mita - highly recommended.
Norma's Tacos - in Punta de Mita (many locals argue about which is better - Junior's or Norma's - do we need a taco-off?!)
Teresa's Tacos - in Punta de Mita
Pacifico Beach Club - in the Four Seasons Punta de Mita
Mita Mary Boat Bar and Bistro - Punta de Mita
The Conrad looks great, but I want to stay somewhere else - any recommendations?
For sure! There are lots of great places to stay around the greater Puerto Vallarta and Punta Mita areas. We've suggested some that we like in the "Things to Do" and "Travel" sections, but BE AWARE: check travel times before booking a different hotel! Many of those hotels are 45+ minutes away from The Conrad - some of them are over an hour away.
