In September of 2017, Mike and Jessica's paths first crossed at a mutual friend's birthday party. What caught Mike’s attention right away was Jessica’s fierce competitive spirit, especially when she took on Heidi in a high-stakes Jungle Speed match that almost seemed to end in a battle to the death. Though Mike was typically shy and quiet, he was fiercely competitive as well. The following June, during a month-long group water fight, Mike fully stepped out of his shell. In one unforgettable moment, he waded across a river to ambush Jessica and her friends, who were peacefully hammocking in the mountains. Armed with his super-soaker, he struck first. Jessica and her crew, soaked and scrambling to retaliate, saw Mike in a whole new light. He didn’t flinch when outnumbered — he dove right into the fun and wasn’t backing down. Their friendship grew as part of the same group, but it wasn’t until a group trip to Disneyland in the fall of 2018 that something deeper started to blossom. Fast forward to winter 2023, when Jessica returned to Utah, and Mike was there to support her every step of the way. Then came May 2024 — Mike planned a spontaneous trip to chase the Northern Lights, and it was an experience Jessica will never forget.
