The second I spotted Derek that night I couldn't keep my eyes off of him, and it seemed nor could he. It was my 22nd birthday and my girlfriends and I were hitting all of the usual bars in downtown Kent to celebrate. Derek and I were in a class together at Kent and I noticed him right away on the first day because I had seen him around campus previously. As usual I hid in the back of the lecture hall of the class so he had never seen me, not until that night that our eyes met across the room and I couldn't help but smile right at him. He was the most handsome guy I had ever seen, and still is. My friends teased me telling me he hadn't stopped looking at me since we entered the bar, and two took fate into their own hands by stopping by his table to tell him it was my birthday. Within minutes I felt a tap on my shoulder and there he was, big brown eyes and a killer smile, asking me if he could buy me a drink. I told my bridesmaid, Amy, after about 2 weeks of dating that I would marry him one day- and here we are!

Who would have thought that one decision would change my life forever. I never knew that choosing Kent State over other universities for baseball would introduce me to the woman of my dreams. That was the best decision I have ever made! A few friends and I were taking a night out on the town when we all noticed the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. It was funny how things played out because my friends and I were talking about Jes. Out of nowhere I get a little helpful courage from her group of friends. It's her birthday, she's absolutely perfect so I had to buy the birthday girl a drink. Best 3-4 dollars I've ever spent. 4 years later I have my best friend by my side and I can't wait to call her my wife.

We have had some remarkable adventures so far Jes and I can't wait to travel many more with you. You are my best friend and my everything and always will be, I LOVE YOU!
