July 14, 2018 JessicaA few days prior, one of my best friends from college, Katie, asked if I wanted to go on an 11 mile hike with her and her new roommate that I hadn't yet met before. He had been planning to backpack the John Muir Trail and wanted some friends for a training hike. So this is how I ended up startled awake by a phone call from Katie at 5am on a Saturday morning while still wrapped in my comforter, like a burrito. Oops. I immediately rushed to change, grab my backpack (pre-packed already, of course), and shove a strawberry cream cheese bagel in my mouth on the way out the door. I jumped into the back seat of the car waiting outside while apologizing again for oversleeping. The guy in the drivers seat says"Hi, I'm Chris" and turns around and gives me a big cheesy grin. And that's when I should've known that it was the beginning of the next chapter of my life.We spent that whole day driving to/from east LA, hiking up a 10,000ft+ mountain, and had so much to talk and laugh about that we met up again the following day. That was just the beginning. One day led to another, one text led to another, one kiss led to another, and eventually, one "I love you" led to another. ChrisWell, the first thing that I recall about that day is that you overslept. After Katie called you to wake you up and we waited 15 minutes, you popped into the back of my car with a strawberry cream cheese bagel. I don’t recall much about the first half of the hike up Mt. Baldy, except that it was longer and more challenging than I expected. You were relatively quiet - I didn’t know too much about you until we approached the summit. Both Katie and my friend Kara were further behind us by this point, but you were right behind me at my furious pace as I pushed to summit the mountain as soon as possible. I glanced behind myself and saw that you appeared to be matching my pace with minimal effort. I recall thinking, “Who is this girl?”On the drive back home, we made plans to watch the World Cup finals the next morning in North Park, the place we still call home to this day. After the World Cup ended, we were still making plans for the next activity, and the next. We spent almost 48 hours together from the moment I picked you up, trying to find excuses to continue the adventure.&nbsp;When you keep making excuses to spend time with someone, it is a good sign that there may be more to the relationship. It had been a long hike, one that was tougher than expected. Upon reflection, it’s funny that you were with me every step of the way, just like you are now. And you are often still running late. Since then, we have continued to fall more and more in love with each other and create so many more fun memories with all of you. We can't believe it has been almost 7 years since that day and we are so grateful to continue building our story with you as we add our wedding weekend to the list of days we will never forget!

When is the RSVP deadline?

You may not be asked to see your passport when you enter Mexico, depending on how you enter the country. However, you will 100% need it to get back into the US. Especially since they will not always be checking as you enter Mexico, please please please check yourself to make sure you have your passport before you cross the border. You need 15 remaining days of validity on your passport so make sure you check your expiration date. If you need to renew your passport, you can do it online but it can take up to 4-6 weeks to process and get mailed to you.&nbsp; You will not need a travel visa to get into Mexico but you will need a FMM (Forma Migratoria Multiple) Tourist Permit, which you can fill out online or receive at the border if you walk across (if crossing San Ysidro border, which most people will be, the name for this crossing is "El Chaparral" for your FMM form). We recommend filling our the form online andkeeping a tangible copy with you at all times along with your passport. As border laws will be enforced, alltourists must fill out an FMM form before traveling to Mexico. While the form may not be checked during yourstay, it is required in case of local checkpoints or border enforcement. Passport & Documents

The venue/house is located on the southern side of Rosarito, about 40 minutes from the US/Mexico border. Please refer to our "Transportation" section to get directions to our venue from the border, including toll road and border crossing information. There, you will also find more information about driving, parking, and car insurance. It is a good idea to have cash on hand - either USD or Pesos will work. There is NOT an ATM at or near the venue so please be prepared ahead of time.&nbsp; Cellphone service will be on roaming while in Mexico, so please plan accordingly. Please reach out to your cellphone provider in advance to set up an international calling/texting plan as needed. There will be WIFI available at Villa del Paraiso. We also highly recommend downloading the messaging app "WhatsApp" this is a messaging system you can use on wifi when you are abroad. Please do not drink the tap water in Mexico. The best way to get drinking water is buying bottled water from the stores. If you are staying at Villa Del Paraiso, we will have bottled water for you to refill your water bottles with. Each room will also have bottled water in the bathrooms for you to rinse your mouth when you brush your teeth.&nbsp; We ask that you dispose of your toilet paper in the waste baskets in the bathroom instead of into the toilet since the sewage system is different than the ones we have at home. Not the end of the world if you forget, but try your best to throw your toilet paper in the waste baskets instead.&nbsp;

Traveling in Mexico

The wedding will all be outdoors, and the ceremony on grass. There will be a tent for the dining area, but we will be right by the water so bring an extra layer for when it cools down at night. Please bring sandals to change into on the dance floor if you are changing out of heels.

What should I wear?

While our venue is already in a safe area, you can feel reassured that Villa Del Paraiso also has a security gate and security guard in order to enter the property and cars will be parked inside the property.&nbsp;

Security

We kindly ask that all cellphones and cameras remain put away and out of sight during our ceremony. Our photographer will capture that special moment for us all and we can't wait to share all photos with you in the days following wedding weekend! Feel free to take as many pictures as you would like during cocktails, reception, and the rest of the weekend!

Unplugged Ceremony

We are so excited to celebrate this special day surrounded by our closest family and friends. If you have a plus one, it will be noted when you RSVP. And, unfortunately, our furry friends have to stay home due to venue policy (we are so sad that some of our favorites, Ru and Matcha, could not be part of our big day).

Can I bring a guest or kids?

Please do not feel obligated to attend all the events, as we understand everyone has different availability. However, we ask that you assist us with RSVP'ing for each event so we can plan accordingly. We look forward to enjoying our time with everyone for whichever days you can join us!

We recommend a Friday or Saturday arrival and a Monday departure. The border will be less busy on a Monday. If you have a Global Entry or a Sentri card please bring them. They will speed up the border crossing process.&nbsp;

#1. Drive

For most people coming from San Diego, especially if you are staying at Villa del Paraiso, we recommend driving to the property as it is the easiest option. There is ample parking. If you are driving, here are some tips: -Make sure you have your US drivers license, vehicle registration, and car insurance information with you.-The border crossing at Tijuana is called San Ysidro and is at the end of the 5 freeway. Drive south on highway 5. Get off on the Camino de la Plaza the last US exit before crossing the border from the freeway for car insurance for driving in Mexico, or exchange dollars for pesos. The signs are clearly marked on the freeway announcing U.S. Last Exit Parking. If you want to route straight to that area, you can route to the San Ysidro outlet mall. (Car insurance: at the border -&gt; https://g.co/kgs/8doa3FE, or online -&gt; https://www.bajabound.com/)- Google maps is reliable in routing to the venue, just be sure to pick the west route that runs along the coast and that you allow for toll roads. If you do not have cell service in Mexico, preload it on your phone before you drive.Use address: Villa del ParaisoPlayas de Rosarito, B.C., 22714, Mexico - When you cross the border at San Ysidro, take the ramp on the left first (towards Zona Rio), then stay right following signs towards Rosarito/Ensenada, taking the road that hugs the border wall as you head directly west. Then, take the toll road along the coast all the way to the venue. You will need about $11 cash (USD) round trip for tolls. They accept pesos as well. This is the safest road and will allow you to avoid driving through Tijuana.- The border line from US to MX will start around 2pm on Friday so we recommend that you get an early start if you would like to avoid all the traffic.- The border line for cars from MX to US can take up to 3-4 hours. It is nice to have some cash on hand for this to purchase food/items in the border line if you would like. We strongly recommend leaving Mexico on Monday to avoid as much of the border traffic as possible.

#2. Shuttle

For guests coming down from San Diego (or flying into San Diego), a roundtrip shuttle service is available. Departure: San Diego to Rosarito Friday morning/early afternoon or Saturday morning from your hotel in San Diego or San Diego Airport.Return: Rosarito to San Diego Sunday or Monday morning from your Rosarito hotel/Airbnb. Time: Please coordinate directly with shuttle service; see below. Let Ray know you are reaching out regarding “the wedding of Jessica and Chris 5/30/2026” (speaks English &amp; Spanish). We recommend the departure/return times as noted above. Cost: $159 per person roundtrip, which includes fast pass re-entry to San Diego. When scheduling say that you will be a guest for a wedding at Villa del Paraiso. All guests will be picked up from specific pick ups points (this will be decided by the client, where guests are coming in from, and the shuttle service) at (specific time). Once on specific buses, guests will be driven over the US border into Mexico and be dropped off at their respective hotels, Airbnbs, etc.After the wedding, guests will either depart Mexico on Sunday/Monday and will walk across the border at Otay Mesa to go through customs. Once guests enter the U.S side there will be a representation from the transportation company with a bus waiting to load guests and return guests to original pickup points. Once RSVPs are in, we will post the shuttle schedule here as well. We are also arranging for this shuttle to run the day of the wedding to take you to/from Villa del Paraiso and your Rosarito hotel/Airbnb. *Villa del Paraiso overnight guests: You can arrange for shuttle pickup/return on Friday/Monday.*

#3. Uber/Taxi

For those who do not plan on driving themselves in Mexico, the border crossing at Tijuana is called San Ysidro and is at the end of the 5 freeway. Drive south on highway 5. There is no Uber service on the property or in the town of Primo Tapia. Taxi - please call and arrange for a taxi when you are ready to leave the property and return to your hotel. Villa staff can help you contact local taxis. There are always taxis at the border to take down to the coast. Air Travel

You can choose to fly into Tijuana airport and uber/taxi to the venue/airbnb/hotel, or you can fly into San Diego airport. Regardless of where you fly into, you will still need to arrange for ground transportation to get to the venue.

SENTRI and Global Entry 

-Both cards will provide you with access to SENTRI lanes at the border and expedited processing at the border.-What’s the difference? SENTRI is tailored for frequent US - Mexico land border crossers, while Global Entry is focused on air travel but also provides benefits at land borders.-Vehicle registration: if you plan to drive your personal car to and from Mexico and you hold a SENTRI or global entry card, ensure the vehicle is registered in the SENTRI system. This is mandatory.-Passenger Requirement: All passengers in the vehicle must be SENTRI or Global Entry card owners. A passport card does not count. If a non-member is in the car, you cannot use the SENTRI lanes.

Fast Pass

Rosarito Beach Hotel is enrolled in the border fast pass program, officially called FastLane, which is a single-use pass that gives you access to a special lane designated for tourists. This lane will significantly reduce your wait time to get back into the U.S. These are available for $25 to our overnight guests.The goal of the fast pass program is to give our tourists a way to return to their country fast, easy and safe. This program is coordinated by an outside third party with the following rules. - Only One Fast Pass per room per stay.- Your vehicle MUST have USA or Canadian License Plate (Motorcycles &amp; vehicles with trailers or no License plates on the vehicle --are NOT eligible).- Fast Pass HOURS OF OPERATION is daily from 8 AM to 10 PM.- Only the SAN YSIDRO border crossing has a Fast Pass Lane (Otay Border crossing does NOT have a Fast Pass Lane).- Subject to availability If you request your FastPass one day before departure, we are more likely to be able to provide it on time. Given that the FastPass system is managed by an off-site third-party, Rosarito Beach Hotel&nbsp;cannot guarantee FastPass availability at a given time.

Located less than a 10 minute drive to Villa del Paraiso. *Puerto Nuevo Hotel website has issues with their reservations online. If it says that all weekends are booked, please call hotel directly to understand their availability.

Puerto Nuevo offers a delightful experience that can be enjoyed for a few hours and is known for it's lobster! With its impressive range of restaurants serving the best lobster in town, a diverse selection of local markets and shops, pharmacies, and picturesque oceanfront views, visitors are sure to have a good time. Rosarito 

Bajamar&nbsp;offers three different nines that are played in 18- hole combinations. The club is one of northwest Mexico’s premier golfing destinations, earning the title of being the “Pebble Beach south of the border.” The nines have a traditional links design that gives it a feels of a golf course in the British Isles. The landscape of rolling dunes and rocky cliffs perched above the coast is ideal for links-style golf. The Vista/Ocean has the most variety of three courses since it combines a desert front nine with a seaside back nine. The front nine is challenging, but the back nine is particularly memorable for its stunning views with five holes perched above the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.
