Our Story

Our Story

Nathan and Jessie met through a mutual friend at Stone Age climbing gym. Their climbing together became more and more frequent and added to it running and snowboarding. Nathan began to realize how special Jessie was when she had asked him to go running and climbing on the same day. A strong friendship was built on the adventures and the conversations that they had while on them.

Winter brought with it many snowboarding laps on Sandia, Purgatory, and Santa Fe where even deeper conversations were sparked on the lifts and hikes. Sharing their love for the Lord brought with it a much sweeter depth to their friendship. Here they realized there was much more to this than just friendship.

On a freezing winter evening, they went for a hike in Four Hills where they shared about their communities, the friends who helped shape them over the years, and their families whom they love dearly. After the hike, Nathan made the very special family Drammyfied pancakes and asked Jessie to date him. It was a resounding yes with much relief. Here Jessie admitted that she was just about ready to ask Nathan about dating. She was very patient and prayerful in her waiting for Nathan to ask.

A Wolf Creek trip ensued a few days after. Conversations on the chairlift of boundaries and intentions set the stage for their relationship. Dating was done with the intent of marriage. Nathan has led in a Godly manner with a servants heart. God was, and continues to be, faithful in their relationship. Through His grace, He joined their paths together in a beautiful way and at exactly the right time. Every step taken together has seemed ordained by the Lord.

On June 5th, Nathan met with Jessie’s father, Jason, to ask his permission to marry his daughter. He graciously gave his blessing and spoke of his excitement for Jessie and Nathan’s future. July 12th came and Nathan was ready to ask the question. They had a dinner that was special to them and decided to hike in Four Hills to the same place where they had gone the stormy night where their relationship began. As sunset began and the monsoon clouds started to glow orange, Nathan got on his knee and turned to Jessie. Jessie had no idea that this was coming and the reality of the moment sank in slowly. Through joyous tears she said yes!

We are thankful you all will be joining us and our families in celebrating our marriage and witnessing our commitment to each other and the Lord. Mark your calendars for October 26th at the Monroe’s orchard!

Love,
Jessie and Nathan
