Written in the Sand, Fulfilled in the Stars A close-knit, centrally located village on the island of Antigua, Freemansville was home to two children whose grandfathers (George and Nerille) were very close friends. Naturally, their own friendship was kindled, and so began the union. Having met over 30 years ago, jewel and andre were childhood playmates. Growing up in the same village where their houses were merely minutes apart, they spent many days playing together in her parent's yard, picking mangoes, and harassing the goat and turtle, and in Andre's yard teasing the dogs. Life wasn't always as carefree, however, and they had to attend school. Always having been in each others' company, why not then, do it together? Teacher Dorothy's became a home away from home. Seated beside each other, Jewel, even then, had an infallible focus in her studies. Andre was content to pull her hair when her focus drew too much of the attention he felt he should have. They rode to school together in his mother's car, and did the same afterward. They were, as it seemed then, inseparable. Island life, however, has an insulating effect to the vastness and unfamiliarity of the world, and village life more so. The duo was made aware of this when, some years after kindergarten, Jewel moved to New York. Years pass and the two reunite

Antigua uses the Eastern Caribbean (EC) dollar and the U. S dollar. 1 US dollar =2.60 or 2.70 EC dollarsIt is easier to tip in US dollars during your visit. Bring small denominations (ex. $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills), don't waste time exchanging money. Most of the time you will only be given change in EC dollars.
