When should I buy plane tickets?
We recommend purchasing plane tickets as early as possible to secure the best prices for your travel. For guidance on optimal timing, we suggest utilizing airplane search engines like Hopper, which provider insights into the best times to book flights. According to Hopper, tickets from Virginia to Washington State are anticipated to begin increasing in price around mid-June. Booking in advance can help ensure smoother travel arrangements and potentially save you money on your journey. You can reach out to Jhona to coordinate travel plans if you would like to travel as a group!
Where will I be lodging?
Under the Travel tab, you will discover options for booking accommodations during your stay. As our wedding takes place on July 5th, the ideal dates for lodging would be from July 4th to July 7th. However, you are welcome to extend your stay according to your preferences, staying for as long or as little as you desire in Washington. Feel free to explore the available options and make arrangements that best suit your needs for a comfortable and enjoyable visit.
Do I need a pass to get into the national park?
Yes, you can obtain your pass at the entrance of the park. If you are in the military, you can obtain a free annual pass. Otherwise, there is an option to purchase a vehicle pass for about $30, which grants access for a week. Since many people on this trip are military, closer to our group's travel date, we can figure out options to make the entrance into the park more economical.
Will transportation be provided between the to and from the place of stay, ceremony, and reception?
As we understand that guests may have varying arrival times and preferences, we recommend renting a car from the airport to provide flexibility and convenience during your stay. There are several rental car companies available at the airport, and we would like to suggest booking in advance to ensure availability. The drive from the airport to Packwood, Washington takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. We would prefer carpooling if possible. For the wedding ceremony at the national park, they are only allowing a maximum of four cars from our group to enter the park, so please consider carpooling if you are traveling in a group. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to us, and we will be happy to help!
What activities are available for guests during their stay?
Mt. Rainier National Park offers a plethora of activities for guests to enjoy, including hiking, scenic drives, wildlife viewing, and being in nature. We encourage our guests to explore and make the most of their time in this beautiful destination.
What should I wear? Is there a dress code?
Please wear something comfortable yet semi-formal for our mountain wedding at Mt. Rainier National Park. Please opt for light cocktail dresses and light-colored suits or dress pants with a collared shirt. Avoid white attire and choose colors that complement the natural surroundings, such as muted rainbow tones or soft spring hues. Remember that we will be walking, so comfortable shoes are a must!
What will the weather be like this time of year?
In early July at Mt. Rainier National Park, you can expect temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to the mid-70s Fahrenheit. The weather is typically mild and pleasant during this time, but we recommend checking the forecast closer to the date for any updates or changes. We recommend bringing a light jacket or layering piece that complements your outfit to ensure comfort throughout the day and evening festivities.
Can I bring a plus one?
While we would love to accommodate everyone's plus ones, please note that spots are limited due to the national park regulations. We kindly ask that all guests RSVP with the number of attendees included in their invitation. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to these regulations.
Are children allowed at the wedding?
While we love all of the children in our lives, we have decided to keep our wedding and reception an adults-only event.
Should I bring a gift to your destination wedding?
Since you are traveling for our wedding, making the trip is a gift in itself. Physical gifts are absolutely not necessary! If you do choose to browse our wedding registry, however, any items on the list can be shipped directly to our home address.
Where are the ceremony and the reception taking place?
Our small wedding ceremony is set to take place on July 5th at the beautiful Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington state, surrounded by close friends and family. Following the ceremony, we will enjoy a celebration with our loved ones present at the AirBnb (please message Jhona for the address). For those unable to join us in July, we are planning a larger reception in September to include our extended family and friends. Further details about the September reception will be provided closer to the date.
