Jielin & Braden

June 8, 2025 • Thun, Switzerland

Do you have a gift registry? What can we get you? Do you want cash?

NO! Please no gifts or cash Your gift to us is showing up! Seriously, we know its a long way to go for everyone and Switzerland can be expensive. We appreciate everyone who comes out (and understand if you can't make it either!) so there's no need to try to get us something, just have a good time!

What should I wear?

The dress code is Cocktail. So a suit works for guys or girls (a kilt works too Uncle Jim). And I'll let Jielin write what that means for women, I have no idea. Not that anyone would, but please don't wear a white dress, Other than that, our venue is a castle! As cool as we think that is (and hopefully you do too), keep in mind that it is a real castle with all that entails (some cobblestone, lack of air conditioning etc.). We are planning to have a box of flats available for girls at the reception for dancing

How do we get to the wedding venue?

On the "travel" section of the website, there are details for getting form the major cities to your hotel/the wedding venue, as well as info about the hotels we've blocked off. If you are staying at Hotel Schonbul, it is a 20min walk to Schloss Oberhofen, a 10min bus ride, or a 3 min drive. If you are at Parkhotel Gunten, we are looking into getting a shuttle, and will let you know because it is a far walk. Otherwise, it is a 10min bus ride or 5min drive.

Is there an open bar?

Yup! Have fun

Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors? What about the reception?

We are hoping outdoors for both! But it will be weather dependent. There are indoor options for both should the weather not cooperate. It can get cool at night, and could be hot or cool during the day, so please plan accordingly. The dance floor will be inside at the reception!

What will the weather be like?

Hopefully very nice! Unfortunately we don't know for certain, and with the mountains and the time of year, it can be a bit hard to predict. The temperature can range from the mid teens to the high twenties (in Celsius) during the day, and between 10-15 degrees at night for that time of year.

What else is there to do in the area?

Lots! check out the "Things to do" page for some planned activities and suggestions about what else you can check out.

What about accommodations?

Check out the "Travel" section for more info!

Will dinner be served at the reception?

Yes! Our reception is being held at the Restaurant Schloss Oberhofen (don't worry about having to travel after the ceremony, its attached to the castle). There will be lots of delicious food.

Can I take pictures at your wedding?

Of course! In fact if you do, please share them with us after the fact. If you feel like being in the moment, or your phone dies, that's ok too. The only thing we ask is that you try not to block other people's view by taking photos

What if I can't make it?

That's ok! It's a long way to go, and Switzerland can be pricey. We 100% understand and while we will obviously miss you, we get it. We will have a drink together when we next see you instead
