Zach and Jill had first started talking after matching on a dating website in May of 2021. Jill had posed a true test of compatibility when she asked Zach, “How many ‘Chuggas’ come before ‘Choo-Choo?’ to which Zach answered incorrectly. Jill put aside her strong personal beliefs because she was realizing that Zach was amazingly kind, just as sarcastic as she was, and not too bad to look at… She gave him a chance.

It didn’t take long before Zach had extended an invitation to treat Jill to dinner at Biaggi’s Italian Restaurant. They sat and talked for 3 hours without even realizing how much time had passed. Zach walked Jill to her car, gave her a hug, and asked what she would want to do on their second date, which came only 2 days later.

To this day, Zach insists that Jill tried to kiss him on the first date, but everybody knows that;

A. Jill is not that forward.

B. Jill can’t reach Zach’s face.

…Zach is sadly mistaken.

They had continued to go on dates and learn more about each other, and on July 10th, 2021, Zach asked Jill to be his Girlfriend.

In today’s world, you can pretty much bet that each day will have a random Holiday assigned to it. Examples being; National Taco Day, Learn Your Name in Morse Code Day, Ugly Sweater Day, etc., August 1st just happens to be National Girlfriend’s Day. Jill had caught wind of this from social media, and very lovingly and gently reminded Zach of the holiday by sending a message that read, “UM TODAY IS NATIONAL GIRLFRIEND DAY YOU SOGGY POPTART!” (Just one of the romantic pet names Jill has for Zach). They laughed it off and they went about their day.

Hours later, Zach told Jill that the full moon outside was gorgeous and suggested she go take a look from the back patio. Jill, (who was freshly showered and lotioning her feet), was hesitant but Zach insisted. Zach took her hand and lead her to the patio where he had lit a fire, tiki torches, turned on the overhead twinkling lights, set roses out, and had romantic music playing in the background. Jill smiled and assumed the display was all a show of love for National Girlfriend’s Day, until she turned to find Zach down on one knee presenting a ring.

Jill is smart. Jill is a sharp cookie. Jill had been suspicious of a proposal and was on high alert for special events and locations - anything which could be an opportunity for the question to be popped… And yet Zach still managed to catch her completely off guard with a ring that had already been hiding in the house.

Zach had a wonderful speech prepared, tears in his eyes, and might we mention his quivering chin? Jill, on the other hand, immediately started bawling because she’s emotional like that. The easiest “yes” of her entire life.
