Jill and Michael met 4 years ago on the set of AMC's Halt and Catch Fire. Jill had just graduated from FSU, and Halt was her first film job; Michael had been in the industry for 5 years. At first, they only spoke when Jill complimented Michael's nerdy T-shirts. But Michael had a gift for making coffee, and after a few months of drinking it, Jill was won over.

A lot happened over the next 4 years. They fell in love. They adopted the world's best kittens, Crimson and Clover. Both of them took jobs in other cities; in Jill's case, jobs across the country. But they proved their devotion to each other, coming back stronger than ever after each period apart.

In 2018, they decided it was time to finally go on the Europe trip they had always talked about. They took a winter trip to Prague, Munich, and Paris. On Christmas Eve, after an outdoor Christmas concert in the snow, Michael took Jill to a new part of the city under the guise of going to a John Lennon pub. On the way, he stopped at a bridge covered in locks. He pulled a lock from his pocket and asked her to put it on the fence for them. When she turned back around from the fence, he was on one knee.

Naturally, after she said yes, they got drinks at the John Lennon pub to celebrate.
