The 606

Chicago, IL 60647, USA

Walk or bike Chicago's elevated trail in Gabe & Jilly's neck of the woods! Explore some of our favorite neighborhoods like Wicker Park, Bucktown, Logan Square & Humboldt park along the trail. You can rent bikes from Chicago's bike share, Divvy (https://www.divvybikes.com/)! Be sure to stop at some of our frequented restaurants and coffee shops along the way like Mindy's Hot Chocolate or Big Star on Damen, Irazu and Small Cheval on Milwaukee, and check out the many parks and green spaces.

Wendella Architectural Boat Tour

400 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611, USA

One of Jilly's absolute favorite things to do on a nice day. Take a boat ride down the Chicago river which runs through downtown, through the historic locks, and into Lake Michigan for some spectacular views of the city. Learn about many of the different buildings and some of Chicago's history like the Great Chicago Fire, the World's Fair, and much more! The top of the boat is open and it moves pretty slow so even those who aren't fond of boats are usually okay!

Open House Chicago

All over Chicago

The weekend of our wedding happens to be one of my favorite times of year when you can go into tons of cathedrals, temples, mansions, theaters and all sorts of other buildings that are usually closed to the public. The full list of places will be available on the website below.

Lincoln Park Zoo

2001 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60614, USA

Fun for kids and adults! This is one of the first places we went together in Chicago. The Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the only free zoos in the country and also one of the oldest! Go see Jilly's favorites, like the gorillas and the river otters, or Gabe's favorite, the giraffes.

Millennium Park/Grant Park

If it is your first time in Chicago, you can't miss Millennium Park--as the kids say, do it for the 'gram (...as in Instagram). It's just a 12 minute walk from the JW Marriott and is home to The Bean, free concerts in the gorgeous amphitheater, and in the summer weird computer-face-spitting fountains that kids love to play in. Millennium Park is just one part of the larger Grant Park which is essentially Chicago's Central Park. Wander a bit further south from Millennium Park and you will see the Buckingham Fountain where there is a water (and light at night) show every hour.

Museums

Picture of Museums

Chicago is home to some amazing museums! If you are staying at the hotel, you are within walking distance to the Art Institute and an easy bus or cab ride to Museum Campus which includes Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and Shedd Aquarium. There are tons more, some of which are even free, like the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Cultural Center (complete with Tiffany dome ceiling) to suit any interest!

Shopping

Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL, USA

Shop or just walk around downtown on Chicago's Magnificent Mile along Michigan Ave. Home to a wide variety of stores from with a wide range of prices like Louis Vuitton and Cartier or H&M and Uniqlo. Don't forget to fuel up at Garrett's for some classic Chicago Mix popcorn. Explore the historic buildings like the original Water Tower and the Tribune building which contains pieces of historic buildings all over the world.
