The first time we met we were fifteen years old, the year 2001. It was a heavy metal concert (If you can believe it!) Jillian told one of her friends that Mark was cute and her friend tried to convince Jillian to talk to him (Jill refused). But her friend took matters into her own hands, and when she went to the bathroom, her friend had walked up to Mark and started the conversation for Jillian. The music was too loud for the two of them to talk, and eventually at the end of the evening they exchanged AOL!!! names (remember when that was a thing?!?). For two years we spoke on instant messenger and never got together in person. Eventually the conversations stopped and we went our separate ways. Six years passed, and one night Jillian was checking her email and an instant message popped up from Mark (talk about a blast from the past!) The online conversations began again for another three months, until Mark finally said "Let's hang out in person". Jillian invited Mark to a friend's party and the rest is history (now they see each other in person all the time)!! It's been nine years since that real first date and seventeen since that first chance meeting at a heavy metal concert.
