You were a little late to be my first,
but I want all my lasts to be with you
We are so thankful that we have been blessed with a second chance. Our first stories did not go quite how we imagined but we are so very thankful that we serve a God of second chances. A God who could see the bigger picture when neither of us could.
Carrie-I am not someone who seeks out change for the big things in my life-but in 2016 God opened the door for a career change, which also meant a move from the comfortable small town of Eagle, WI to Madison, WI. It was a step out in faith and outside my comfort zone but as God opened each door and propelled me forward it seemed clear that it was the right choice. I settled in to a new job, a new city and new home and felt I could be comfortable on my own-but then God placed in my heart the tiny little thought that maybe their was someone out there to share life with. A little nudge from my kids and I found myself on Match.com. Fast forward to June 7 2018 and our first date at Panera. I learned a lot about Jim's passion for tennis that night, and also saw a kind, sincere man. It was as I like to describe, a slow burn from there. We became an official couple on 8/18/2018 when Jim asked me to be his girl while on the back of a jet ski.
Dating was filled with sports events, music venues, camping, and family! On January 22, 2023 we came home from church and I (Carrie) was surprised to see our kids all sitting in the living room (and I learned after a few minutes even Autumn (who was living in Mexico) was there on video! Jim explained that he had talked with each of our 6 kids and my Dad and had everyone's blessing; and he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him! I ugly cried through most of the proposal-but am so very thankful to God for bringing Jim into my life.
