I met Avery at Oklahoma State our senior year when we did a Greek Life show together. Being two of the oldest people there, we instantly became friends and realized our humor and personalities clicked REAL WELL. A couple date parties, late nights playing games with our friends on University Circle in quarantine and a lot of flirting, I finally asked her out on our first real date in April. It didn’t take either of us long at all to realize we both desired a beautiful marriage that would mirror the love that Christ has for the church (and that we both found each other to be perfect 10’s). I knew I loved Avery early on and that I would choose to love her for the rest of forever, but I wanted us to walk through Ready Or Knot by Scott Kedersha before moving forward. Each chapter ended with questions that would reveal green, yellow or red lights in our relationship, and chapter after chapter, we found ourselves hitting green lights. After being affirmed through community and prayer, I bought the ring, talked to Honey & Pop Pop (Avery’s parents) and popped the question on May 15th. The day I gave her the ring was the first time I told her I loved her (although I let it slip like twice before that), and it made it mean that much more. I can’t wait for forever with Avery.
