Our Wedding

Our story began in August 2016, as strangers who just so happened to know a friend of a friend - and embarking on a group trip to Lake Chelan for a weekend getaway. From then on, we were distant friends that would see each other and catch up at group gatherings such as birthdays and events. However, it wasn’t until November 2018, when we really started to become closer as friends. With his close relationship to Joan’s aunt, Cam and uncle, Lance, Jay would consistently come to Joan’s family gatherings, where the memories and friendship continued to grow. In May 2020, we decided after being close friends for a couple years, to explore if our friendship could also have a romantic connection. Surely enough, we did. We bonded over similar family upbringings, our love for food, music, adventuring and trying new things, just to name a few. Conversations were filled with jokes, laughter and seemed like they would carry on for hours on end. Before we knew it, our lives were going to be forever changed as we started to do life together. * June 26, 2020: Officially started dating * June 27, 2020: Went public to friends and family * August 14, 2020: First “I love you’s” * November 7, 2020: First getaway trip to Leavenworth, WA * December 10, 2020: Joan’s first trip to California - meeting Jay’s family * October 2, 2021: First musical festival together - Beyond Wonderland * February 18, 2022: Found out we were pregnant 🤰🏻 * October 18, 2022: Welcomed Jahriya to the world 👶🏽 * April 15, 2024: Bought our home 🏡 * July 27, 2024: Officially engaged August 28, 2026: Wedding Day 👰🏻🤵🏽 We’ve shared so many special moments together, that leads us up to the big day of our “forever anniversary”. We can’t thank you enough for joining us as we say “I do” and start this next chapter of our journey together!

Located in Tacoma and with Museum of Glass reachable within 1.1 miles, McMenamins Elks Temple provides concierge services, allergy-free rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar. The property has a 24-hour front desk, an ATM and luggage storage for guests. At the hotel, every room comes with a closet. Complete with a private bathroom equipped with a shower and free toiletries, all guest rooms at McMenamins Elks Temple have a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and some rooms here will provide you with a seating area.
