Our story began thirteen years ago when I (Joanie) started second grade at a new school. During my first week at the new school, I met a dark-haired boy named Brent who had an abundance of energy like no other. This nine-year-old boy was nice, goofy, loud, and loved to be the center of attention (if you know Brent, this is spot on). Over the next few years, our friendship grew from just knowing each other at school to seeing each other at church weekly. In Fourth grade, I heard a rumor that Brent liked me and was planning on asking me to be his girlfriend. When the time came for him to ask me out, I told him to write down five things he loved about me… that relationship only lasted a day. Regardless of our traumatic elementary school breakup, we still managed to be good friends from elementary to high school. Just as any teenager, when we turned 16 and were able to drive, we would hang out together, go grab Mexican food with our friends, and have fun. In 10th grade, our friendship turned into something more, and we grew fonder of each other, spending any free time we had hanging out. January 28, 2020, we began dating and never looked back - we have always heard that becoming best friends makes the best relationships, but we never believed it until we started dating. It has been five years of maturing, learning how to navigate different aspects of life, and dreaming about our future together. On March 14, 2025, Brent proposed to me, and it was a dream come true. I have dreamt of this moment since I was a little girl, and I couldn’t have imagined it any other way. I thank God daily for putting such a wonderful man in my life, to love, protect, and support me the way Brent does. This is a moment that we have talked about for years and we cannot wait to celebrate this milestone in our lives with the people we love most. Let’s Get Married!
