GETTING TO MILOS

There are 2 daily ferries (2.5-4 hours) and 6 daily flights (40 minutes) from Athens to Milos. If you have the time (or hate small planes) we recommend you take the ferry at least one way. ﻿FERRIES Option 1 -- 7:40 am departure from Piraeus port in Athens, 11:00 am arrival at Adamas port in Milos via <a href="https://www.seajets.gr/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">SEAJETS</a> Option 2 -- 9am departure from Piraeus port in Athens, 12:20 arrival at Adamas port in Milos via <a href="https://www.seajets.gr/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">SEAJETS</a> FLIGHTS There is a small domestic airport in Milos (MLO) with flights from and to Athens (ATH). Embraced by the striking landscape of imposing rock formations this utterly unspoiled and secluded beach is a hidden treasure of the Aegean waiting to be discovered. Only accessible by boat Kleftiko beach can be reached by sea with daily scheduled boats and yachts. The untouched natural beauty and the emerald waters swashing into the sea caves create a magical setting for sunning, swimming and scuba diving. Visitors will encounter some exceptional geological phenomena which make this amazing beach one of the most photographed spots in all of the Aegean.

<a href="https://goo.gl/maps/ZsvDhLHWeagxaPFa7" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">MARMARA</a>PLAKA, MILOSAs with many Greek island towns, Plaka was built using a maze of alleys to confuse pirates. The same alleys now make for charming streets you can stroll and get lost around. You'll find eating, drinking, and shopping options throughout. Of the seven museums on Milos island, four of them are located here. They're all fairly small and you will likely need less than an hour to visit each of them. If you time your walk just right, you can catch the sunset at Marmara by the church of Panagia Korfiatissa.

They were found in 1844 and it is estimated that they were built towards the end of the 1st century. They were used as Christian cemeteries during Roman times and stand as the most Important Early-Christian Monument in Greece. Christians built them as a way to hide from their Roman persecutors and are full of labyrinths!

<a href="https://goo.gl/maps/uLQesvKrfFvKwWE88" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ANCIENT THEATER</a>TRIPITI, MILOSOn a rocky slope, near the famous catacombs stands the ancient theater of Milos that Romans built during the Hellenistic period. It exists to this day though most of it is actually ruined and is not in the initial shape as it was hundreds of years ago. The ancient theater of Milos used to organize theater festivals. Nowadays, the inhabitants continue to organize many cultural events.

<a href="https://goo.gl/maps/7PapFX3TksE2guyw6" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">THE SULFUR MINES</a>PALEOREMA, MILOSMilos is a volcanic island (and not very old in geological terms) having formed over the past one to two million years. The hot water thermals in this area have resulted in the formation of many important minerals like Perlite, Kaolin, Bentonite, and Baryte. You can take a tour visiting mines abandoned long ago and other interesting archeological sites. It's quite a trek to get here and if you do then you should also check out Paleorema beach.

ADVICE FROM A TENURED MILOS SEA CAPTAIN

Always select a beach that aligns with the wind pattern that day. For example, if you have a Southward wind then it's best to visit a beach located on the southern part of the island. This will ensure that you don't experience wild waves or gusts of sand to the face.

It is considered one of the most magical beaches on the island. Formed by volcanic rocks filled with natural bubbled-shaped hollows, this unique beach is nestled amidst the dramatic scenery, and ideal for diving and snorkeling adventures near the sunken shipwreck.

Access is quite difficult, however it is a favorable spot worth visiting. You can get there over a narrow path. From the top of the rock the beach looks like a turqoise swimming pool or canal, with high white cliffs surrounding it, and there are caves.Resembling a gigantic swimming pool with cyan crystalline waters this beach is a very well hidden jewel of Milos. Access to the beach is quite difficult and requires some rope hiking. The high cliffs offer adequate shade to bathers and protection from the northern winds. No food or drink options are available.
