Our story began in Sacramento on a sunny Spring afternoon. We matched on Bumble and, after exchanging messages for a couple days, decided to meet for drinks at a local brewery. It just so happened to be Earth Day, so naturally we were treated to an in-your face puppet show to make our first date super memorable. We had a great time chatting and getting to know each other. We both left thinking the other person was way too normal for an online date and therefore, we'd never see each other again! But just a couple of days later we got together again for a "running date" followed by some Thai food. We quickly learned we had a lot in common, including our mutual love for cooking, hiking, traveling, and the Sacramento Kings.

We decided to beat the heat and go to the Bay for the day. It was bright, sunny, and possibly the windiest day of the year. We went to one of Joanna's favorite lunch spots from college in the Berkeley Marina. As we walked near the water, Matt got down on one knee and popped the question. We were swept away, and not just by the wind! We celebrated our engagement with some champagne in the restaurant overlooking the water.
