In addition to the options listed above, guests may choose to fly into Detroit Metro Airport (DTW), located about four hours south of Mackinaw City.

All guests will need to book a round-trip ferry ticket to reach the island. We recommend using Shepler's Ferry, which departs from Mackinaw City and St. Ignace approximately every 15-30 minutes and arrives in the middle of Main Street after a short 15-20 minute ride. Parking is available at the docks on the mainland. If you plan to stay at a hotel on the mainland, be sure to check the ferry schedule so you don't miss the last boat back!

Once you arrive on the island, you may either walk to your hotel or take a horse carriage if you'd prefer not to carry any of your luggage.

The Grand Hotel is a 10-15 minute walk uphill to the left from the docks, while the Murray is just a few minutes to the right when you exit the docks onto Main Street.

NOTE: If you are staying at the Grand, you have the option of Shepler's Ferry transporting your luggage directly to your hotel room for you. The luggage can take up to three hours to arrive, so if you have items you need in that timeframe, consider bringing them with you on the ferry or transporting the luggage on your own. Other hotels may also offer similar luggage transportation services.

Nearly everything on the island is located within a short walking distance. A horse carriage taxi service is available if you would prefer to schedule/request a ride rather than walking (after the reception, for example).
