We technically “met” in high school… if you count Chance trying to date Joc approximately 87 times while she dodged him like she was training for the Olympics. He’d ask to hang out, and she’d hit him with the classic, “Yeah… no.”After Joc left Chadron, we kept crossing paths through the same friend group, but nothing ever stuck. The timing just wasn’t it — and apparently God knew that better than we did.Fast-forward to late spring of 2023, when Joc finally said yes to a date. And suddenly this thing that had never clicked before made perfect sense. One date turned into another, and before long we were looking at each other like, “Well… I guess I do like you.” The pace wasn’t slow-burn or dramatic — it was just steady, real, and exactly what it needed to be. Two and a half years later, here we are actually getting married, which is hilarious considering Joc shut him down every single time in high school, and for a few years after;) As for the proposal… it started as a normal conversation, turned into a plan, and then Chance pulled a full surprise by abandoning the plan and doing his own thing… which is very on-brand for us. So here we are, finally making it official in the way God lined it up all along.
