Once upon a time, two single people on a dating app decided to swipe right and become a match.
However, it took awhile for Jodi. Jodi would go on the app, “Bumble”, and would see Jason’s profile. She didn’t swipe left or right, just left it and would close out of the app. This happened a few times before she decided to swipe right. And would you imagine, they matched. This led to basic small talk and then exchanging phone numbers to get off the app.
A few days later, they went on our first date. August 22nd, 2019. They decided to go to a local bar&grill in Winona, MN “Bub’s”. To their surprise, there was a wake being held at Bub’s so they couldn’t get in. That led to deciding to go to a different restaurant, “Jefferson’s”. After dinner, they went to “Nate&Ally’s”, a local frozen yogurt shop, a favorite place of Jodi’s. It was a good first date.
They waited awhile for the second date being that Jodi was starting up her fall semester classes. A second date consisted of going up to Garvin Heights on Sept 5th, 2019. This is where they began to feel attracted towards one another.
On September 9th, 2019 Jason invited Jodi over to meet his roommate Alex Stroebele and watch Monday night football. Jodi later learned that watching football would be a regular occurrence dating Jason. It was that night they confessed their feelings of liking one another and established a relationship, being “Facebook official”.
Covid 2020 pandemic brought challenges to the relationship when Jodi was forced to move out of her college apartment and move back home living in Montrose MN and Jason staying in Winona. What was once a 2 minute drive was now a 2 hour drive to see each other. With the distance and the uncertainties of the world during the time, absence grew but their love for each other grew fonder.
Jodi graduated from Winona State University with her Bachelor’s Degree and because of Covid, had a virtual graduation ceremony. Day of her ceremony, she helped Jason move out of Winona and to temporarily live with his parents in New Brighton being work was completely virtual.
Few months later, in April 2021, Jason and Jodi moved back to Winona together living with the best landlord, Alex Stroebele.
November 2021, Jason got a new job and the two moved yet again back to the cities where the two stayed with Jason’s parents. Thankful for their support, Jason and Jodi were able to save up money and bought their first house in August 2022 and moved once more into their home September 2022. They have no plans to move anytime in the near future ;)
Jason proposed to Jodi on February 9th, 2023 in the heart of their home, the kitchen. It was seemingly another random Thursday night and winding down from the day, watching tv show The Office. Between episodes, Jason asked Jodi if she wanted ice cream. She said yes. Jason went upstairs to the kitchen to what Jodi thought, he was getting ice cream. A minute later, Jason texted Jodi asking if she could help him upstairs. Confused, Jodi got up to see what was up. To her surprise, Jason had left notes on the stairs. Notes he had saved from when Jodi jokingly used to propose to Jason on his birthday, April Fools Day , in 2020. The last card at the stop of the stairs had the question Marry Me? Obviously she said yes! She never got her ice cream that night though lol.
The happy couple set their wedding date for May 4th, 2024.
