Hi Everyone!

As most of you know, “Our Story” is a complicated one that starts in 2014 at a New Year’s Eve party.

But, to fully understand how we started let us take you back to before we even met . . .

Becky and her best friend Megan have been friends their entire lives and have spent every New Year’s Eve together. The girls decided to spend NYE of 2014 in Philadelphia with Megan’s roommate, college best friend and his girlfriend. Little did the girls know that this would be the night Becky met her future husband, Joe.

That night they all went out to a California Pizza Kitchen (which is now a Verizon store, not that it matters). What was the conversation the group had at the restaurant you ask? Well, Megan, Joe and Daniela (Megan’s roommate) complained about Joe's roommate the entire dinner. While Becky got to know Joe’s girlfriend (because the two didn’t have anything to contribute to the conversation about Joe’s roommate). But, throughout the night, Becky and Joe would catch each other’s eyes just for a few moments at a time. From that night on, Becky would ask Megan about Joe and Joe would ask Megan about Becky. Needless to say, Megan wasn’t too thrilled about this.

For the next two years, Becky would go to Philly to “visit Megan”; which also meant flirt with her friend Joe. But, nothing really happened between them until Megan’s 21st Birthday party in 2016.

Finally, Becky and Joe were both single at the same time. That night, they thought they were alone in the backyard and KISSED . . . for the first time! There were fireworks and sparks instantly. Sweet moment right? It was but, they were not alone. Right as they finally have their FIRST KISS, Megan’s brother Brian (who is basically Becky’s older brother too) jumps off the roof and lands behind them like a drunk spider monkey! He immediately goes “Oh hey guys . . . great night we’re having . . . have you seen Megan? No? Okay I’ll go find her.” and ran off.

After this night, Becky was supposed to go back to Jersey but, somehow ended up staying a week in Philly to hang out with Megan (and Joe). For the next year and a half there were many trips made to Philly by Becky to “visit Megan (and her cute friend Joe)” and a few trips to The Catskills as a group. Whenever the two were around each other it was obvious that there was a connection. Obvious to everyone except Becky and Joe (even Becky’s dog Jack knew they were supposed to end up together when Jack allowed Joe to sit next to Becky and didn’t bark). It took Becky starting a new relationship fresh out of college and almost loosing each other, for the two to realize that what they really wanted was to be together.

February 27, 2018, the pair were on the phone when Becky realized it was 11:11pm and she told Joe to make a wish. After about 30 minutes of going back and forth refusing to tell the other what they wished for, Joe caved and said his wish first (or Becky tricked him and got him to say it first but, that part isn’t totally clear haha). They both wished for the same thing. . . a relationship with each other. And just like that they were officially each other’s . . . FINALLY!

It only took a week for the pair to say “I love you” (“only a week” . . . it took them three and a half years to finally get together). As Joe was leaving The Beaver-Del after a visit, he sent Becky a song (in a genre he knew she probably wouldn’t like) and told her to listen to it. The song was “Just a Memory” by Odesza. She listened to it then called Joe. He said that that song made him realize how much he loved her and never wanted to lose her again. She realized that she had found her person.

May 23, 2019: After just a little over a year of being together and with the help of two of Becky’s best friends, Megan and Mary, Joe proposed to Becky after seeing Odesza live. (If you don’t know the story behind Becky’s engagement ring you should ask her . . . Joe did an amazing job!)

2020: Needless to say this year threw a curveball at the world and the couple. After moving to New Jersey in 2019 for five months, Becky and Joe decided to move back to the Catskills and start house hunting and wedding planning. Then COVID hit. However, this made them realize what was really important and kept moving forward. They closed on their first home in June and kept wedding planning.

August 28, 2020, Becky and Joe said “I Do” in a small (COVID approved) wedding in front of 30 people. The only thing they wished could have been different was that they could have celebrated with all of their family and friends.

Now, if you’re still reading this . . . thank you! We know it was a lot but, after 10 years of knowing each other, 7 years of dating each other and (almost) 5 years of being married, that was the short version.
