Event Details

Our story is borderline cinematic, and we felt that it warrants a deep dive:

According to my dad Jim, the Winne's met the Slade's in 1977 when they moved to Roseville. "I don't remember the circumstances but I recall that they [Tom and Annette, Joey's maternal grandparents] sort of adopted me and my friends and let me hang out there on a daily basis. Tom and Annette were my de facto after school guardians while my parents were at work." - Jim I've been told that my dad put a dent in their homemade bread supply and that bread is what inspired my mom to learn how to make her own, which she's now well known for. My mom had classes with Joey's uncles all through grade school and knew the rest of the Slade's well too. Despite the numerous family connections, we didn't meet until high school! Summer 2024

We packed nonstop activities and travel into nearly every weekend over the summer - mountain biking in Tahoe, stand up paddle boarding in Folsom, a wedding shower in LA, a River Cats game, Joey's 31st birthday, a wedding in Camarillo, and so much more. Every new experience together brought us closer and after the 4th of July camping trip, we were already planning an engagement ring shopping trip.

We can't wait to see everyone at the wedding!

Jane is Amanda's closest childhood friend since age 12. They met at Jane's home in Monterey, through the NorCal Cycling League because both of their dads were coaches. They bonded over being weird homeschool kids, spent hours talking on Skype, wrote cringey Wordpress blogs, and took the Amtrak train to visit each other for weeks at a time. Amanda's favorite thing about Jane is her hilarious physical comedy. Jane is back in Monterey after spending two years at Seoul National University in Korea and has been working towards her master's degree in Speech Language Pathology at San Jose State University. She is a modern and ballet dancer at Monterey Peninsula Community College.

Bria was a literal answer to a prayer when she took over Amanda's awful roommate's lease in Sunnyvale, CA in 2018. They were roommates and had an absolute blast figuring out life together in their early twenties. They fostered kittens, went to the beach, decorated their home, and cooked together all the time. Bria was in vet technician school and also began her van conversion in their driveway during that time. Amanda's favorite thing about Bria is her encyclopedic knowledge of animal behavior and insanely creative solutions for animal behavior issues. Bria is now a registered vet technician and lives in Santa Cruz with her dog Nova and her cats, Leo and Luke.

Jordan and Amanda instantly bonded when they were both late for a bible study in 2021 and learned that they have the same birthday, which was ten days later. They had both moved back home just before Covid and didn't have any gal pals to celebrate with, so they went to a dive bar wearing obnoxious birthday crowns. They volunteered at the Bayside kids ministry, attempted to have some kind of social life and suffered through the latter half of Covid together. Jordan and Amanda have such a alarmingly wholesome friendship that they often resort to telling people they met in prison. Amanda's favorite thing about Jordan is her deadpan humor and wit. Jordan earned her master's at William Jessup University and now lives in Knoxville, TN, working towards licensure as a marriage and family therapist. She bought her first home last fall and adopted her first cat, Fat Marvin, who is indeed very fat.

The Winne's and McMillen's have been great family friends for decades, so Amanda and Whitney were lucky to be raised together and form a lifelong friendship. Their lives intertwined in so many ways, from preteen sleepovers to being dragged to all kinds of racing events by their speed junkie fathers. As adults, they haven't had nearly enough time together but when they do see each other, it's like no time has passed. Amanda's favorite thing about Whitney is her ability to sincerely connect with anyone she talks to. Whitney earned her Public Relations degree from Sacramento State and has worked in sales and event planning in numerous roles. Whitney is an incredible artist and businesswoman, and is currently combining her talents as the founder of a branding solutions company based in San Diego called Custom Concepts (@shopcustomconcepts). She also started a clothing line of her own designs called Banshee Supply (@banshee_supply) which donates a care package to the homeless for every purchase.
