You know those rom-coms where the couple keeps just missing each other, only to finally fall in love at the perfect moment? Yeah… that’s us.

We technically should have met way earlier. Joe likes to think Madison noticed him when he was playing basketball for his high school...one of Madison’s rival high schools while she was on the sidelines cheering for her team. It’s debatable whether she actually noticed him back then (she didn’t), but hey, he’s sticking to the story.

Fast forward a few years and we ended up at, of course, rival colleges: Joe at KU (Rock Chalk) and Madison at Mizzou (M-I-Z!). So yes, we are destined to argue over college sports for the rest of our lives.

Despite all the near-misses, we finally crossed paths during the least romantic time ever: a global pandemic. But somehow, amid lockdowns and social distancing, we found each other. Turns out, we had been living five minutes apart our whole lives. Go figure.

From there, things moved fast and far...literally. We survived long distance while Joe was training in Georgia and Madison was building her career and starting grad-school online at ASU. When Joe got stationed in Hawaii, Madison packed her bags and joined him in paradise.

Our three years in Hawaii were unforgettable: we moved in together for the first time, got engaged, and made countless memories exploring the islands, eating our weight in poke, and soaking up every ounce of sunshine.

Now, we’re onto our next adventure in Georgia, where Joe is continuing his Army training (Captain’s Career Course!) and Madison continuing to work for the company in Hawaii, only this time it is remote. We’ve loved every chapter so far and we can’t wait to write the next one together.
