Meeting as young kids through mutual friend circles, their love story didn't really begin until January 18th, 2014, Hockey Day MN - Elk River. Once Joe offered Ali his Choppers for her sit on top of the cold bleachers she was hooked. After high school both attended UMD where they continued dating. Their senior year they moved into the first apartment together in Duluth. After two years in the apartment, they decided to move into a house with a couple of friends to save money with the goal of finding a home of their own. On December 19th, 2021, Ali returned from a hockey tournament in Fargo. After some convincing by Joe, she agreed to go drive around town to look at Christmas lights. After seeing their favorite house lights. Joe recommended going to look over Bentleyville on Skyline Parkway. When he then suggested to get out of the car to get a better look (in single digit temperatures). Ali started to get suspicious. As she walked around the car Joe was down on one knee and asked her to marry him. When they got back to the house it became very clear to Ali that she was the only one not in on the plan. A couple months after the engagement the hunt for a house began. After many months of rejection, they were finally able to get the perfect one and move in at the end April 2022. 9 1/2 years after those cold bleachers, Joe and Ali are getting married &lt;3

Due to the busy fall tourist/wedding season that Duluth gets every year all efforts to get a room block at a nearby hotel has come up empty. However, we were able to get a block at a hotel farther into Duluth at the Tru by Hilton. We do recommend that if you are planning of attending the wedding that a reservation is made as soon as possible for out-of-town guests. Along with the hotels that are listed there are countless others along with rental houses/apartments available.

This is the closest hotel. We were unable to block rooms, but you might get lucky if you reserve soon. They were formally Best Western. Must call for available rooms.
