Joe's Perspective

Ya know man, the first time I saw Maddie I had to stop at a water fountain to get my heartrate down before I said “hi” to her, and honestly not much has changed. But after that first time I saw her, she literally disappeared, so my plan was simple . . .go to every Catholic young adult event in the city in hopes that she would be there. But, classic Maddie, she had too many people to hang out with to show up to even one event. Five months later we finally ran into each other. I was able to convince her to split a meal with me (actually it didn't take much convincing at all) and from then on, I was locked in. So after double checking with the Lord that He didn't want me to be a priest I asked Maddie on a date, exactly two days after she had sworn me off forever . . . it never does pay to be a procrastinator. After five months of dating, I was pretty well convinced that Maddie and I were going to get married... Then she broke up with me...ouch.

So that sucked, but after six months of crying every other day, I asked Maddie on a second first date…she said yes. And now-we're getting married.

Maddie's Perspective

I remember checking Joe in to Encounter while he was checking me out, but definitely not to the same degree. I also remember the splitting of a meal together at the conference months later, but to be honest I was intimidated by Joe's silent and mysterious air.

My most striking memory is during soccer practice when Joe was giving me instructions on how to run a play. For Joe was a college soccer athlete after all, and I a simpleton whom had hung up my cleats after my city championship in fifth grade. But I could not comprehend what he had to say (after about 3 times of trying to explain the same thing) because I was *drowning* in the sea of his blue eyes and could not catch my breath.

That night I pulled my best friend aside and said, "I am going to marry that boy", to which Kaitlyn replied, "I know". After a few months of flirting and me freaking out about when he would finally ask me on a date (he was discerning the seminary... classic) we made it official and it was history.

That's actually a lie, but I wanted to keep the reader interested. After a few months of dating, we broke up- a total right person wrong time situation. Six months, many tears, and so many prayers later- the good Lord brought us back together, better than ever- and now here we are- GETTING MARRIED!
