It all started at a high school dance—though, funny enough, we weren’t each other’s dates. Joe, still in middle school at the time, was actually Sophie’s (Lydia’s older sister) date for the evening. That night, we met, and over the years, we both had crushes on each other at different times, but nothing ever seemed to line up.


As time passed, life took us in different directions. We went to different colleges, lost touch, and for years, it seemed like that was the end of our story. But God had a different plan—one far greater than we could have imagined.


Years later, just as Lydia was preparing to move to Washington for the summer, she found herself thinking about Joe. Encouraged by a little curiosity (and perhaps a little divine nudge), she turned to their mutual friend, Nick, to ask if Joe was single and if reaching out was a good idea. Nick, Joe’s good friend (better wingman) told her to follow through.




With that, a simple message led to a drink, a conversation, and the realization that God's timing had been perfect all along. Had we dated any earlier, we wouldn’t have been the people we were meant to be for each other. But in His perfect wisdom, God brought us together at exactly the right time.




Now, as we step into this next chapter together, we can’t help but look back in awe at how perfectly God orchestrated our story. Every missed opportunity, every moment of waiting, and every twist along the way led us right to where we were meant to be—together. His timing was never late, never early, but always perfect. We are so grateful for His faithfulness, for the people He used to bring us back together, and for the love He had planned for us all along.
