Well, let me tell you. Megan and I first met at a friends night around a campfire. I was sitting by the fire and Megan was grabbing a glass of water in the kitchen. As she looked through the window we locked eyes - I was certain she was checking me out but she denies this.

Our friend group would spend most weekends playing ALOT of board games. This was quality time for me to flirt with Megan. Every chance I got, whether it was at church or at a friends house, I was trying to get closer to Megan. I was flirting non-stop - but - of course, not too over the top so that everyone would notice. Unfortunately... my flirting didn't really have the effect I intended. I was trying to be so nonchalant that Megan couldn't tell at all that I was interested. On the flip side, I also was not able to tell if she was into me! This went on for several weeks.

In this time Megan went to her Aunt's cabin where her cousins were playing with a Rubix cube. Megan had snapchatted me and told me how hard they were to solve and how she couldn't believe that her young cousin could solve them! Of course like the kind gentleman that I am, I told her I would teach her how to solve a Rubix cube. This was a great plan - other than the fact that I had NO IDEA how to solve a Rubix cube myself.

I quickly raced over to Youtube and taught myself how to solve them. Once Megan was back I also successfully taught her how to solve the Rubix cube. I lent her mine that I bought from Walmart and still have never gotten it back.

Either way, things were moving forward. We were spending more time together. In big groups, in smaller groups, and then I even took her to Mcdonalds!

We were both still unsure of what the other person was thinking until we were chatting outside of a friends house after a games night. We were chatting in the cold and I ask if we could chat in her car instead - she agreed. We chatted in the car for a while and Megan had the floor. She was talking for several minutes. I wanted to ask her out but I was so nervous that while she was talking I didn't understand a single word she said. I kept responding with "sure, nice, great, really?" just to get through the conversation. Eventually I got out of my head and romantically asked "Do you want to go on a date?". She said yes!

We'll fast forward through a year and a half of romantic walks, fun dates and a whole lot of kissing. This brings us to September 23rd, 2023, the day I was going to propose.

Fortunately I knew someone who owned private river bottom land - prime proposing land if you ask me. I had previously asked Megan out on a date for this weekend and I started out with something super special... exchanging my parents dishwasher. We soon took off and sat down at one of our favorite restaurants, Original Joes (because of the gluten free options). As we finished our meal, I ask Megan if she'd like to go for a walk in the park nearby. She agreed and we made our way towards the park. While on the road, I nervously asked, "hey! I know that farm right there, we could go for a walk there!" Megan agreed but her suspicions were elevated. At this point in time I was not too nervous, but I can't say the same for Megan. As we were driving down the hill Megan said under her nervous breath "wow, there sure are a lot of bunnies here!".

We made it down to the river where Megan noticed the first light I had hung up. We walked down the path and she read the note that was strung under the light. She turned to me in anticipation and then... she noticed another light down the path (she thought I was proposing right there) we continued down the path with beautiful fall colors around us. She read the next note, gave me a kiss and we moved on to the next light. From there, she could see a big wide tree with patio lights hanging underneath. We walked closer and as she read the last note I bent down on one knee.

And bam! That's how I landed my beautiful fiancé.
