Diane Manuel - Matron of Honor
Joelle and Diane met when Joelle joined Diane's 6th grade class at South School in Great Lakes, Illinois, where both their fathers were stationed in the Navy. They started walking to school together and became fast friends spending Friday night mahjong together and singing (yes, you read that right) in the church choir. The Navy relocated both their families to the Charleston, SC area while they were in middle school, and over the years, their families spent more mahjong nights and holidays together. Joelle was proud to be a bridesmaid at Diane and Ro's wedding in 1995 (Asian don't raisin!) and is proud to be their first-born son Stefan's godmother. When Adam and Joelle started planning for their special day, one of the few decisions that came easy was that Joelle would ask Diane to be her matron of honor.
Jenny Hlava - Bridesmaid
Adam first brought Joelle to Wisconsin to meet his family in July 2012. Joelle and Jenny bonded instantly over their shared experiences being involved in university residence hall life. Since then, they’ve shared more than residence hall life, such as their love for Jonathan Knight of NKOTB, sweet treats, 90s music, and day-drinking. Joelle is excited to officially become Aunt Joy to Jenny’s two young men: Jack and Jacob, to more shopping excursions together in and out of Door County, Wisconsin, and one day in the not-so-near future, sharing Packers season tickets.
Cora King - Bridesmaid
Anyone who knew Joelle and Cora in middle school knew they loved Duran Duran. Although they each began their love for Duran Duran in different places, when Joelle moved to Alexandria, Virginia for graduate school in 2005, she and Cora had already virtually met on the online Duran Duran fan boards. Cora and Joelle met in person at a Duran Duran concert showing in a Maryland movie theatre. Many actual concerts since then, including trips to England and New Orleans, these two shared teaching stories (kudos to Cora for 28 years!), their quest to find the best burger in the DC area, and countless shopping excursions, especially to Nordstrom. Cora and Joelle would love to share their (mis)adventures and antics on their own show "Crack Raisin" once Oprah discovers them.
