Ours is a love story 20 years in the making, John and I first met at DRMC in DuBois, PA. He was hospital security with a contracted company and I was the ED department secretary. We dated for about 3 years and fell in love.

John's work took him out of DuBois to another hospital in another town. I was a single parent with family and support here. Time went by, life got complicated, and we parted ways. We both made lives for ourselves but neither one of us stopped loving the other.

A few years passed by and John bravely reached out to me. It was as if no time had gone by. The feelings flooded back and filled the parts of our hearts we both had closed off all those many years ago. The time was brief but full. However, it wasn't our happily ever after...Yet. Again we parted ways and I tried to put a period at the end of our relationship. I was determined to move on and never go back again.

Last year, 2023, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had surgery and underwent radiation treatment. It was one of the darkest moments in my life... but God was there. John once again bravely reached out to me. This time things were different... For both of us!

Finally this was the start of our Happily Ever After...

All the "things" in life that had kept us apart, all the demons were finally slayed, and the other priorities we placed between us were not the priority. It was just the two of us and the flood gates opened. Finally, all the love that we had found 20 years ago, we finally gave ourselves permission to give and receive.

Oh the joy... The fullness of a Love we knew but never embraced is finally ours. We learned many lesson over the last 20 years and the one we want to share is this... Always choose Love. It isn't always easy... It isn't always pretty...but it is the one thing that will carry you through...
