Though we first met during a lab class in our sophomore year, it wasn't until our junior year that we got to know each other better while walking back to our dorms after class. That year, we bonded over procrastinating research assignments, and Angela even convinced John to join the MIT Asian Dance Team! We were a young college couple excited to have met each other.

After graduation, Angela went off to medical school, and soon after, John started working as a life sciences consultant. Amidst our busy lives, our relationship became more serious, and we moved in together. We learned how to live with each other, but also learned about each other's quirks--Angela's tendency to study while in the splits, and John's love of stuffed animals and coffee.

We quickly grew to become not just John and Angela, but "Johngela"--a couple name one of our friends had coined. As Angela transitioned to graduate school, we took on a new challenge as resident tutors in the MIT dorms, supporting nearly 50 undergrads as the supposed "real adults" on the floor. We supported each other through challenging times, from Angela's crazy lab schedule and life in academia to John's long work hours and his search for his ideal career. And soon enough, we couldn't imagine being without each other.

As the COVID-19 pandemic struck, as with everyone else, our lives took a turn. We had to move, all of Angela's lab work was paused, and John began working entirely from home. But in some ways, the pandemic brought us closer, and allowed us to spend more quality time with each other.

In April 2021, we proposed to each other and decided to spend the rest of our lives together. We are excited to officially get married and celebrate with you, our closest family and friends!
