We met in 2019 at the wedding of our close friends, Darren and Mariah Boersma. Amber was a bridesmaid, and John, well—he pretty much made a straight line for her the rest of the night. From the start, there was something there. The connection was real, but timing wasn’t on our side. Amber was still in college, and life was pulling us in different directions.
Even so, we kept in touch. Over the years, we got to know each other more—staying friends, talking here and there, always keeping that spark just beneath the surface.
Eventually, that friendship turned into something more. We realized how naturally we fit together. We both love animals, music, being outside, diving into deep conversations, laughing constantly, and getting lost in random bits of history. Our first date was supposed to be lunch. Six hours later, we were still talking.
We spend most of our days with our two fur babies—Mack, our loyal Golden Retriever, and Doc, our lovable (and slightly chaotic) Black Lab. They’ve been with us through it all; they cant wait to see their parents married!
After three years of dating, growing, and building a life side by side, John proposed on Carmel Beach on May 24th, 2025. It was simple, honest, and perfect—just like the life we’re building together.
