We met like most millennial couples meet these days... Online. We had matched on the dating app Bumble. For those of you not familiar with Bumble, girls must initiate the conversation within 24 hours of matching online. If they don’t start the conversation, the match disappears. One feature that Bumble has is that the guy can extend the match an additional 24 hours. So when John saw the time on the match dwindling, he decided to use his one extension. Kelsey will tell you that she had given up on dating apps, and that is the reason she did not talk to John. She had no idea that they have even matched. It wasn’t until John extended the match that Kelsey got a notification on her phone. Kelsey reached out, and a conversation started. With a week of communicating under our belts, we decided to set a date to meet.

We met downtown for drinks and immediately knew there was chemistry. Kelsey even told John that he had the remnants of the drink he was drinking on his lip. Something John was extremely appreciative of. We ended the night dancing away at Crazy Town to 90’s music on the third floor. It was a long fun night. This is also the last time we have been on Broadway as a couple.

A few lunch dates here, dinner dates there, we found ourselves in a living crossroads. Kelsey’s Brother was moving out, and John’s apartment lease end was coming up. Four months into our relationship, we decided Milo really needed a brother in Bodie, so John moved in with Kelsey. We both were nervous as to what people would say, but we quickly dismissed it, as we knew it was right for us.

A couple months here and there, we found our way to Hawaii, which was a thank you trip to Kelsey for putting up with all of John’s training/racing. There was also a race in Hawaii, so let’s not be too quick to praise John here… The night before the race, John thought that Kelsey would cheer a lot harder for a Fiance than a boyfriend, so he asked Kelsey to marry him. John actually wanted to spend the rest of his life with Kelsey, he just says the cheering thing so he doesn’t have to tell everyone he proposed in a hotel room while they were in Hawaii…

So we currently find ourselves here.. Almost done with planning a wedding, loving life and ready to spend the rest of ours with each other.
