Once upon a time, in the magical land of Camp Livingstones, an adventure camp in Etowah, Tennessee, John and Charlotte met for the first time up on Star Mountain. They were counselors together for the summer along with twelve others. John saw Charlotte step out of her mom's car at the top of the hill and instantly knew she was the one... Just kidding, it took him a while to come around.

Counselor training started, and Charlotte decided to get to know John while walking on the trail because no one else was talking to him. Their friendship grew over the summer, but they didn't know each other's feelings and stayed friends until the end of the season. Charlotte made the first move, which was expected, and told John how she felt. John replied with, "Woah, that's crazy." Charlotte decided nothing would come of it because John ignored her the whole next day before everyone left camp.

On the drive home with her friend Hope, Charlotte received a text from a Virginia number—it was John. They started talking on the phone every night for about three hours per call, but nothing about the relationship was established. John was leaving Charlotte hanging again. Finally, he called and asked when he could visit her. Their relationship took off, and they traveled every month to see each other for a year.

Finally, John couldn't be apart from Charlotte anymore and moved to Conway, Arkansas. He got a job there, found a new church with Charlotte, and they knew they didn't want to live without each other.
