John and Danny met on the gay dating app known as "Scruff" in December of 2015. Danny had just completed nursing school and was working at St. David's Medical Center in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. John was home from Seattle, visiting his family for the holidays.

Danny worked nights as a new nurse, almost overslept, and missed their first date, December 27, 2015.

The two hit it off immediately, called it official in January 2016, and dated long-distance for 5 months before Danny decided to move to Seattle.

After six years, the two proposed and were engaged when the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2023!
