A quaint city of almost 65,000 located on the Rock River in the rolling hills, rich fields, and verdant woodlands of scenic south central Wisconsin.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Citrus Cafe - voted the best breakfast restaurant in Janesville for 10 consecutive years in a row. Breakfast is served all day!


Lark offers seasonally driven dishes made with locally sourced ingredients for American cuisine and serves classic and original craft cocktails. The restaurant gets its name from the songbird, a symbol of happiness.


Looking Glass is an eclectic watering hole providing a wide range of draft beers, creative cocktails, & an everchanging menu of hearty dishes with international influences. It just so happens to be one of Cassie and Johnny's favorite spots in the city!

O'Riley & Conway's Irish Pub is the longest-running pub in Janesville and boasts being a true public house, where strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet. It has the most extensive beverage selections in Rock County, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Slainte!


Rock County Brewing Company is located in the historic Carriage Works building in the heart of the downtown area. Specializing in hand-crafted brews in small batches, they also offer snacks but don't have a full food menu.


808 Cheesecake - originally from Hawaii, their island-inspired and traditional award-winning gourmet, cheesecakes. They offer bite-size, personal-size, or large 9-inch cheesecakes.

Visit a park! As “Wisconsin's Park Place”, you can take advantage of over 60 parks and 30 miles of paved off-road trails. Riverside Park is home to 87 acres of fun, excitement, and year-round adventure!


See the Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Team. The 19-time U.S. National Champion and "most successful water ski show team in the world" offers free public shows on Wednesdays and Sundays and is a highlight of any summertime visit to Janesville WI.

Where art thou Romeo? Attend an outdoor Shakespeare production of Romeo and Juliet put on by the Janesville Performing Arts Center. Shows take place outside at the historic Rock County Historical Society Campus (Lincoln Tallman House) from Thurs, June 27 - Sun, June 30 at 4 PM. Bring your chair or blanket to sit on.


Take a hike! The Devil’s Staircase Segment of the Ice Age Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails located in Riverside Park. This scenic trail ascends the bluffs and offers outstanding views alongside the Rock River.


For the art lovers, walk the streets and view the 21 murals and nearly 40 unique outdoor public art pieces throughout the city. Check out Raven’s Wish Gallery, an eclectic spot showcasing more than 70 local and national painters, jewelers, photographers, and mixed media artists. Down the street, visit The Glass Garden, where you can learn to create your stained glass masterpiece or browse their selection of jewelry and gifts.



Madison

Nestled on an isthmus between lakes Mendota and Monona, this city is home to the iconic Wisconsin State Capital building and the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison. Cassie and Johnny have called Madison home for the last 5 years!

Ancora Cafe + Bakery A great food and coffee spot featuring a seasonally rotating food menu, with a variety of breakfast and lunch options.


Salvatore's - In a city full of good pizza, Sal's comes out on top. Don't take our word for it, try a slice for yourself!


The Old Fashioned For cheese curds and a brandy Old Fashioned, a Wisconsin favorite. Featuring comfort food and many Wisconsin favorite dishes is perfect for any time of the day. May be a wait but it is worth it!

Vintage Brewing Company is a local favorite for good food and great beer. They have several locations in the area and some of the best mac and cheese around town!


Tornado Club Steak House – For a taste of Wisconsin's supper club culture, visit this restaurant for dinner. Reservations are recommended, or you can walk in after 10 pm for their famous discounted "late night menu".


With no shortage of bars in the city, you really can't go wrong, but some favorites of ours include State Street Brats, Wando's, Paul's Club, and Plain Spoke Cocktail Company. And for late night snacks, try Paul's Pel'mini's for their famous dumplings (order them "with the works") or Ian's Pizza for an assortment of crazy flavors!

EXPERIENCES

Take a bike ride around the city. Madison is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the country. You can rent electric-assist bikes from BCycle stations everywhere in the city. The Lakeshore path along Lake Mendota is one of Johnny's favorites and takes riders to the popular Picnic Point spot.


Hang out at Memorial Union Terrace at UW Madison. Sit on one of the iconic yellow, orange, or green chairs and enjoy some food, drinks, and famous Babcock Ice Cream made by UW's Food Science Department. Cassie’s favorite flavor is Mocha Macchiato and Johnny's is Union Utopia.

Just 20 minutes down the road in Verona is Epic System's Intergalactic Headquarters, the healthcare software company with one of the most unique work campuses in the world. They offer daily guided and self-guided tours! FUN FACT: Johnny's first job after college was at Epic!


Explore the Wisconsin State Capitol Building, who's beautiful white dome is the 2nd largest rotunda in the country behind the one in Washington D.C. The building is open to the public and offers free guided tours daily. The inside is absolutely stunning and you can even go up to the roof for an unbeatable view of the city!

While you're down on the square, why not visit the Dane County Farmers' Market. This market is the largest producers-only farmers' market in America, and takes place outdoors around the Capitol Square on Saturday mornings from 6:30 am - 1:30 pm.


There are also of plenty of museums to check out in downtown Madison, including the Chazen Museum of Art, Wisconsin Historical Museum, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Madison Children’s Museum, and Wisconsin Veterans Museum. Many are free!

Milwaukee

Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, where the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic rivers flow into the lake, this vibrant city gets it's name from the Algonquin word for "The Good Land" and is now known as "The City of Festivals".

Colectivo - A unique café serving freshly brewed coffee, espresso, tea, and bakery items made daily from scratch. Sit outside on their expansive patio to enjoy the summer weather.


Wicked Hopvisit to experience “Milwaukee’s Best Bloody Mary”! Located in the Third Ward this is a favorite for brunch.


Visit Blue’s Egg for an amazing breakfast. Come hungry, you won’t believe the variety and servings of their dishes.


Another nearby favorite is Cafe Benelux. a restaurant inspired by the Lowlands of Europe—BElgium, the NEtherlands, and LUXembourg—with a unique menu and vibrant atmosphere. Take in views of the city from the rooftop deck!


SafeHouse - enter a world of espionage by visiting this iconic spy bar & restaurant, a "speakeasy" of sorts and Milwaukee's best-kept secret since 1966!


Looking for something international? Try County Clare Irish Restaurant for Irish food, Maders Resturant for a German beer hall experience, Botanas for Mexican, or DeMarini's for Italian (and the best pizza in town!)

For fans of buffalo wings, try Steny's Tavern & Grill or Points East Pub, the two best spots in town. Or, if you're feeling ambitious, try both and decide which one comes out on top!


Purple Door Ice Cream - An amazing variety of delicious ice cream flavors makes this a favorite spot in Walker’s Point.

EXPERIENCES

For any music lovers, you won’t want to miss SummerfestThe iconic music festival held along the lake takes place over three consecutive weekends (Thursday-Saturday) from Noon to midnight, June 20-22, June 27-29, and July 4-6, 2024. First held in 1968, the festival features 12 stages of music from every genre imaginable. One admission ticket lets visit all stages except for the amphitheater. FUN FACT: Summerfest is where Johnny and Cassie shared their first kiss...and the rest is history!

There are many museums to visit but two favorites are the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Harley Davidson Museum. The Art Museum is an incredible piece of architectural design and boasts an impressive collection of works within its wings, while the Harley-Davidson Museum offers an unrivaled collection of motorcycle memorabilia within it's park-like campus. Both are two of Milwaukee’s top tourist destinations.


Milwaukee County Zoo - The Milwaukee County Zoo was founded over 130 years ago and since then has expanded to the 190-acre site home to over 2,100 animals and 330 species we know and love today.


Brewer Game – Head over to American Family Field to watch the Milwaukee Brewers take on their bitter rivals, the Chicago Cubs Fri, June 28th - Sun, June 30th. FUN FACT: Cassie & Johnny’s first official date was at a Brewers Game.

Milwaukee Public Market - Milwaukee's most unique downtown food destination! Bursting with unique, high-quality selections of artisan and ethnic products, crafts, and freshly-made prepared foods, you’re sure to enjoy shopping the independent merchants of the Milwaukee Public Market.


Happy Days! Take your picture and say "ayy" with The Bronze Fonz statue. Located on Milwaukee’s RiverWalk just south of Wells Street, the Bronze Fonz is a must-visit selfie spot that pays homage to “Fonzie” from “Happy Days,” the popular sitcom set in 1950s Milwaukee.
