Me, Justin A small town barber I was, young, very outgoing young man. Those that know me, know, I meet no strangers. So, the day came when Jolanda, my soon to be wife, brought her son, now our son Jalen to the barbershop where I worked, for a routine haircut. Jolanda would enter in and the entire shop would go silent. Why? Because she was a walking Barbie! We all looked and gazed asking ourselves in our heads "I wonder if she gotta man" or "lawd she fine" lol. The shop normally stayed packed with little sitting room. She sat with Jalen near close to his barber and I only looked and peaked with butterflies but she wasn't paying me NO attention. And off she went. I told myself "the next time she come in here, I'm gonna say something". So, like clockwork Jalen was back for his routine haircut for school. One thing is certain, parents kept there kids looking presentable by the head during the school year lol. So she came in, and just my luck, the seats were all taken by Jalens normal barber, but my booth had open seats, and here she sat. Allllll in her phone. So I worked up enough nerves and said: "Hey, how are you?" "Good and yourself" she replied "Oh I'm good, why you never let me cut your son hair" I asked "Jarvis has always cut his hair she replied" "Sooooo, do you have a boyfriend"? I asked "No I don't" she says "So that mean I can have your number then right"? "Nope!!" "Your not ready for a girl like me she replied" So I took my gentle let down and changed the subject lol and as time passes we would speak when she came in and out the shop. Changes came!!!!! Jalens barber left the shop I was working at, and after that I no Longer got to see jolanda. She followed Jalens barber faithfully. Time passes. . . . . . . . Life passes, we both continue life in our own little bubbles. We grew, matured, well I matured lol cause she was right, at the time I wasn't ready for a woman as good as her. "Iron Bowlllllll" It was football season and time for Iron bowl, and The Tide was Rolling and I had a pretty good bet on the game!! Of course, the Tide won lol, and I just had to make a post about the bet I had won. Surprisingly, Jolanda liked my post. Andbeing that I hadn't heard from or seen her in so long, it took me back down memory lane, and I reached out her. Asked how she had been doing and how life was treating her, etc etc etc lol That post sparked and fire that had never been sparked before. We talked and talked and talked, and found out a lot about one another. Honestly, one of the best genuine conversations I'd ever had with any woman that I was attracted to lol. She was in school at the time working on her Masters degree, and I was working so it was time for me to go to bed haha and she was still up working on school work. (Night owl) We exchanged numbers, and thus began the Journey the of Justin and Jolanda! ;) I was like a kid in chuckie Cheese with u limited tokens, I was happy again for the first time in such a long time. When she'd call or text I would light up like The Fourth of July! We talked and talked everyday! "Our thing" was FaceTime!! We loved FaceTime, just because we could see one another. At anytime! And we royally abused It, a regular voice call was out of the norm lol Time passes. . . . . . . . . Finally we had a First Date!! Boy was I nervous and excited at the same time! The same woman that turned me down years ago, I was about to go out with. Full of jitters, and anxious to see her once again in person after so many years had me sweating!! So I pulled up, and down she stairs she came, standing gazing into her eyes, if felt as it was just yesterday she was in the barbershop for the last time. Greeted with a Hug, and all the. Butterflies flew away, and away went my sweat. Why? Because at home I felt. The chemistry between us was unexplainable. And off to the 80's costume party we went! We enjoyed the night away, getting many complements on how good we looked together, not knowing we weren't even officially together yet. A refreshing feeling! And to top it off, after the party that Saturday night, we attended church together the next day! (The icing on the cake) lol Time passed and we continued to grow, and learn one another. On Christmas Day, after all the time we spent together, finally we became official! We had a title!! But I knew then I wanted more. She was all I had prayed for and asked god for. Time passes. . . . . . . . We grown, we've matured together, and above all we were in love! But we soon found out that with this new found love, came a lot of haters, a lot of people that "said" they were happy for us really weren't. So, stumbling blocks fell, rocks were thrown, all in attempt to separate what we had. Thankfully, Jolanda was a praying woman. Deeply rooted in her faith and with faith and prayer we overcame many obstacles that presented themselves to us. Higher we grew in the lord and closer and closer our bond became. Time passes. . . . . . . Things are great! And one day I asked Jolanda, "how would it feel being my wife one day"? Why? Because from day one we both agreed to court one another with a purpose, and not date just to date. We both wanted the Grand Prize, to be wed!! For her to Be my Mrs. Amey!! She responded and said: "You should fast and pray about it" and I'll do the same" "let's consult god" And that's what we did. For a week we fasted and prayed about marriage. We wanted the go ahead from God. At the end of the fast we revealed to one another what god revealed to each one of us, and the courtship we shared made a turn for the best, we were finally ready to set sail for the final destination!! "Marriage"!! And that road has lead to the present, two years later, and counting, I'm set to marry my best friend! My love, the only woman I feel God created just for me! She's perfectly made for me! And I thank God daily, because through her I'm reminded that "yes Jesus loves me" he loved me enough to create her and place her in my life most importantly, when I was ready for her. So to our friends and family, Aug 25, 2017 the two shall become one! Hope you enjoyed this brief story of how we met, a lot I left out but hey, you get the point! Lol
