Joleigh and Nathan crossed paths on a band trip during their freshman and sophomore years of high school, bonding over their fear of roller coasters and their odd sense of humor. When the trip came to an end, they didn’t really speak again, other than exchanging casual heys in school. Their friendship rekindled the following year when they sat next to each other in history class, where Joleigh tried to convince Nathan to do his homework—only to discover that history was one of his best subjects and he was doing way better than her. One night, they decided to hang out with each other and their friends at Springfest, but their friends ended up ditching them, leaving just the two of them together. They spent the whole night laughing and talking until it started to rain, prompting them to grab a bite to eat before saying goodnight. A few days later, Nathan confessed his feelings to Joleigh, and the pair began dating on May 24, 2019. They have been inseparable ever since.
