Jonathan & Caitlyn's Story

Caitlyn and Jonathan met in July of 2023 and made it official less than a month later, on August 12th. Caitlyn and Jonathan are polar opposites in most ways but are more similar than the naked eye would suggest.

Caitlyn is the chaotic-good, scatterbrained, cries-because-you're-crying type of person while Jonathan is a scheduled, grounding-force, who speaks and interprets in plain-text, only. Despite that, they are both huge nerds who take great pride in their intellect and being the "go-to-person" at their trade, they love deeply, and will do anything in their power to show their loved ones how much they mean to them.

In September 2023, Caitlyn left for a six-month deployment to Kuwait, turning their brand-new relationship into a long-distance one. They stayed connected by FaceTiming at all hours of the day, at the gym, while watching movies together, playing video games, and even falling asleep on the phone (sometimes). Despite the distance, they found ways to grow closer every day.

After six long months apart, Caitlyn returned home in April 2024, and the two finally began living together. But as fate would have it, just six months later Jonathan learned he would be deploying to Qatar in October 2024. Knowing their time together was limited, they made the most of every moment; traveling to Mexico and Florida, spending time with Charlotte, decorating and designing their home, bonding over their favorite band "Sleep Token" and of course, playing video games together.

One of their most memorable trips was a vacation to New York City with Jonathan’s parents, where Jonathan proposed in Central Park—and Caitlyn said yes!

Soon after, Jonathan left for his deployment, and they found themselves long-distance once again—this time as fiancés. While it wasn’t any easier the second time around, they leaned on strong communication, patience, and choosing each other every day. In April 2025, they celebrated yet another sweet homecoming.

Within days, they jumped into wedding planning, and expanded their family by welcoming their energetic Belgian Malinois, Ghost. And now, after miles apart, countless FaceTime calls, and two deployments later, they’re finally ready to say “I do.”
